I have actually been staying at the puerta plata apartments, about 7 times in the last 10 years, although to admit, i have not stayed there for a few years now, i visited them in december and they looked as good as always, if you have kids, then they are great, especially if you have a ground floor apartment, as they are always overlooking gardens.
They are quite a way up the hill but about 1.50p wil get you up there in a taxi..............

Thanks for your replies, we have now booked the Rio Piedras Apartments, they get good reviews, and are right on the opposite park to the large pool near the beach, nich and flat. We have stayed previously half way up the hill on either side.

Hi me and my boyfriend love PR we went last February and are going again in 2 weeks. The bars and restaurants are great. If you like traditional english food try churchills and squires (say hi to phil) if you fancy spanish food try el pescador. You can't really go wrong in PR everything is so cheap.

Amadores beach is nice, its a bit of a walk around the edge of the cliff but when you get there it is a man made beach and there are plenty of bars and cafes there.

Try the trips from the harbour too, The catamaran is good it's about £22 but you get free drinks and there is a bbq on board. The dolphin trips are good too.

Anyway I'm sure you will love PR I started going with my mum and dad about 5 years ago and now me and my boyfriend go!

Have a great time x

Hiya

I've been to Gran Canaira twice but havn't stayed in Puerto Rico but have been on a nite out there. We had a fab time and although the beach is small ish its nice to sunbathe on. If you got the chance visit Playa del Ingles for a real mad nite out.

Hope you enjoy it.

hi....the weather will be nice and hot, plenty off food places in the bottom center (the commercial center) or up the top (the Europa center) , some nice places down at the beach also, you will find lots off cheap drink pubs(LIKE SINATRA'S) IN THE BOTTOM CENTER. i think you will enjoy the beach....its clean...its quiet, as no music or ball games are aloud,
i go back there on Monday, love the place :D :D :D

You will have no problems entertaining your self in PR. It has a great beach and as it runs up a valley everthing is centred along the middle of the valley.
You can visit the waterpark at the top end - that is furthest point from the beach. The Centro Commercial has a full range of restaurants; pubs; bars etc. The Europa centre is smaller scale but similar. The harbour offers many boat trips and if you wish to top up the tan then an all day cruise will do the necc. A nice boat tripup the coast to Puerto Mogan was also worthwhile.
I've been twice and would return no problem.
Hope this helps
