Hey,
I was wondering how far it is from Puerto Rico to Maspalomas and whats the best way to get there?
Is there a bus service that runs there?
Any idea how much a taxi would be?
And..what are the sand dunes like there?
I'd really appreciate any feedback to these questions!
Thanx
It would take you about 20 mins to get there. Don't know about buses or taxis though.

I find this really useful because you can put in the start and finish points - it gives you the line number and price - You need Acrobat to read the timetables. Miraculously the buses arive on time and are generally air conditioned.
Road wise by Taxi - probably less than 10 minutes by the new motorway - on the coast road a bit longer but quite a pretty run. Hope this helps
The link below is to the Gran Canaria bus company - It has bus timetables etc for all over the island. There appear to be three bus services from PR to the Light House at Maspalomas - 39, 70 and 1 all cost less than 1.60 euro for the trip I find this really useful because you can put in the start and finish points - it gives you the line number and price - You need Acrobat to read the timetables. My last link takes you to the Recorridos page, click on the lineas y horarias link ( lines and times) to search the start and finish points click the buscador link - the others allow you to see all the lines, the more poular lines and those with disabled access. For the Maspalomas look for FARO Maspalomas ( the light house)
I have stayed in Puerto , i love it, but dont find it the best place on the island, as for the Puerto Plata, it is always very clean and friendly, and i am sure you will enjoy it, as it is not too far from nightlife, but on those hungover evenings, you can get away from it!
hi Kate. Thank you for your post. i am glad you said we are not to far away from the nightlife as i was quite worried that we were going to be to far away.
Hi Everyone, me and my girlfriend went to Puerto Rico last august, best holiday we have had!! Nightlife is excellent, debz, definitely go to Garage Bar in the main commercial center - went there every night, great dj, fantastic bar staff and excellent tunes, plus they play plenty of games where you win free drinks!! You will have a great time plus it was hotter in puerto rico than playa del ingles
thank you for your reply, sounds like you had a great time, free drinks sounds good to me! i noticed you are from cumbria so am i cool! its not often you see people from cumbria haha!
thanks again
how much/far is it in a taxi to PDI, think might go there for 1 or 2 nights?
any of ye guys know about a Spanish Night, supposed to be great crack but cant find anything on the net about it.
it costs about 15/20 euros each and runs at hourly intervals. each ride takes 20 mins.
the aussie(type) bloke talks you through the ride first, then off you go.
you will have the best laugh aslong as you don't mind getting soaked and travelling at what seems like 100mph
great fun
Yeah fromBarrow , where u from? you will def have a top quality time in Puerto Rico

I was at Peurto rico with my boyfreind last month. The weather is great, the beaches are good, go to Amadorres beach it's nicer than the local one, the nite life is good, plenty of bars, restuarants. Too many to visit. There are things to watch out for though, there are a lot of time share touts, although tell them you are under 18 and they should leave you alone, and also there are a lot of fake electrical goods in the shops in the commercial centres, they look like the real thing , but they are not, I know know as i got fleeced for £150 for a camera which is a fake. Anyway apart from that you'll have a great time. Playa del ingles is really good for a nite out, well what we remember of it!
PS I'm from Cumbria too, Carlisle. Have a good time.
Julia
cool your from cumbria to its a small world!
Thankyou very much for the information, and giving me some tips on what to look out for so i will be aware now. i am so excited about going. sounds like you had a great time.
I will report back to you all about how much i enjoy myself hopefully!!
thank you x
Just returned from P Rico. Before we went found this site with great pictures of PRico. Type in bryanandchris on google, should find them
hi thanks for that information i have just had a look at the pictures they are really good thankyou
Hi Lau, me and my girlfriend went to p.Rico last year, best holiday we have ever had and weve been to loads of places. Nite life is excellent, theres something for everyone, we didnt need to go to playa del ingles once. in my opinion stay at the nitelife at bottom of the hill (commercial center) because the one at the top of the hill (the europa) is quieter and is aimed more at families. Definitely go to Garage bar though, we only found this bar 3 days before we came home - absolutely fantastic. play so many drinking games and games where you win loads of free drinks and the bar staff are top quality. Hope you have a great time!!!!!!!
puerto plata is ok. i stayed there last September and had a great time.
the apartments are very basic and a little tired looking but comfortable enough. just hope you get a decent view.
there is a good pool bar which has a happy hour, as well as an Irish bar on site. the Irish bar never really got going but does a wicked brekky.
all the staff are friendly. just say hola !
enjoy your holiday
PS. get a taxi back to the apartments after a night out. it will cost less than 3 euros and beats walking !
Taxi is 30 minutes and is only £28
Thanx 2u all for your replies!!
