Hi, stop worrying straight away, Mellieha has got lots of bars and places to eat, in mid-summer when you will be there there will be lots of places open and more than enough for you to do in a weeks holiday, the local bus service runs through the village and past the beach area although it does finish quite early in the evening this won't be a problem to you as you will have plenty of local places to go out to in the evenings, the local bus runs all the way from the Gozo ferry port at Cirkewwa through to Bugibba and Qawra and from here to the Capital city of Valletta and from here you will have links to the whole island check out the local bus web site at http://www.atp.com.mt other travel web sites you might want to check out are http://www.choosemalta.com http://www.visitmalta.com http://www.aboutmalta.com http://www.starwebmalta.com please ask if you need any other information about Malta and I will do my best to help you.

Thanks for this, it makes me feel a little better! I didnt want to go somewhere particlarly busy but didnt want to be secluded either

As a fisrt time single traveller Im not sure what I will want to do when I get out there, so at least the option is open to me.

I will relax and hope for the best! many thanks

Have been trawling through the forum, lots of good info thanks.

I have visited the Mellieha Bay hotel several times as a teenager and am now returning with my family.

My son is 18 months old and occasionally still uses a pushchair. Does anyone know of the quality of the pushchairs available for hire at the hotel? and do they have sunshades? It would only really be for the walk t o the shops as he can happily walk around at the hotel.

If we decide to take his pushchair from home could anyone advise me of the airport and flight procedures for these, I assume they go in the hold, rather than hand luggage.

Thanks,

Ian

Sorted. Details FYI;

Have spoken to the airport, apparently we can take the full sized buggy and it will not be classed as luggage. We hand it over at the gate when boarding, it gets tagged and put in the hold, collect with rest of luggage when we arrive. :)

Buggys tend to come off the baggage carousel before suitcases, so make sure you get to the baggage carousel early.

Basically with buggies, it is best to take your own with you. You can hand this over at the gate just before boarding the plane and once again you can collect the buggy at the base of the aircraft as soon as you disembark. Just ask the cabin crew to make sure they off load your buggy and hand this to you at the bottom of the stairs of the aircraft upon your arrival in Malta. Also in the UK when you return home you can aks them to bring the buggy up to the door of the aircraft for you.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, good tip about getting them to return the buggy at the bottom of the steps.

Cheers.

Thank you Wizard. I have taken a look and there seem to be mixed feelings about it, so will just hope for the best. We went there over 6 yrs ago, but just wondered how it is now. Thank you very much - am quite new to this site. :D
