I'm so confused, the reports about this hotel have been awful, but yet most of the people I have asked on here, and people I know who have been have raved about it. I know everyone is different and respect other peoples views. But

Just going to stop looking at all the reviews and look forward to our well deserved holiday.
but to those who has any doubts about the Sahara beach don't go with negative thoughts .just try it and if you like it thats great and if you don't then put it down to a bad experience .
i have been to places were people have told me it was brill ,and i hated it,i also have been to places were people said it was bad(the Sahara beach) ,and i loved it.
all i can say is if people want Spain, turkey, and other lively holidays out side your hotel Tunisia is not for them(in my opinion) its a completely different way of life in Tunisia and a completely different kind of holiday.i have Spain, turkey,Tunisia, and loved all of them
helllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooo from the northeast.
The only thing that anoyed me at the time about staying at the sbeach was the drinks system!(only being able to get one at a time)!!
but in retrespect it was not really that bad, and def not a mini butlins

Cheers for that, it's so good to hear a good review, but tell me, what is it that you did to have the best possible stay? if you read my comment above then you can see i'm really laid back and appreciative of the whole tunisian way of life, but there is just no happy medium from people, it's either a great hotel or diabolical!!
Cheers

welsh honey,

Thanks for your reply, i just don't understand how the reviews can be so far apart! We're just going to go with a relaxed attitued and an open mind. There is one thing though, how did you manage to get to dinner every evening without upseting the stall holders!? i've heard it can be an experience! also how long are you off for as we go on the 26th june.
Can't wait.

amazed at the reviews, I don't understand how they can be one extreme to the other
I have the same views as you, just looking at the reviews out of curiosty now
I went with my family last July for 2 weeks to the Sarah Beach. None of us seen a rat or heard of anyone else who did. There were flies around the drinks at the outside bar and restaurant during the day but you are in Africa and should expect this with the heat. I found the day time enterainment good for children.
We didn't notice excessive smoke in the dining room and as we are all non smokers we would have noticed if there was a problem. The inside bar was very crowded at night and smokey but there was a large outside area with enterainment. We found the food fine for an all inclusive and the rooms adequate. We thought the gardens were very well kept and clean. It is a hugh hotel. The only problem we had with it was that there was little around it except other hotels apart from a Go Kart track. We needed 2 taxis if you wanted to go to the shops as there are five of us, but we knew it out of a town when we booked. The only reason we wouldn't go back is that we missed being able to get out into a town at night and got bored staying in the hotel every night.
We did not have any problem with the traders going to the restaurant.
Thank you for your reply, it seems very honest, i'm a lot more excited now than worried. I think when people go on holiday expecting it to be fantastic then they will always be dissapointed. i'm assuming the bad reports are coming from people who go with the idea that they will be waited on hand and foot because it's a third world country, these are not very nice people, as i see it, if you can get off your butt and get your own glass of juice then don't for one min assume that someone else will be happy to do it for you for free! we even teach our children to to be self reliant, so why ion holiday should it be any different.
i asked about the market traders on the way to the restaurant because i don't want to appear rude to them, but i also don't want to have to buy things i don't want!
My hubby is also a little aprehensive about me being approached as i'm tall, slim and blonde, and a lot of people at home are teasing him.
lets face it looking like that you would have the same problem in this country i would imagineMy hubby is also a little aprehensive about me being approached as i'm tall, slim and blonde, and a lot of people at home are teasing him.

We found that if you looked at the stalls the traders approached you but we found everyone to be polite, no thanks was all that was needed if you didn't want something. After a while we just walked passed them on the way to the dining room and there was no hassle. We did find a more agressive hard sell when out and about in Monastair and Sousse, more so than in Turkey where we had been the year before. They would nearly pull the children of the street into the shop to try to get you in or put a headdress on their head when you weren't looking and then look for the money. We didn't run into any problems though we just keeping walking and say no thanks. My husband tends to talk to traders more and then you are caught!!
I don't understand people who travel to countries like Tunisia in the heat of the summer and complain that the hygiene and standards are not like home, its not home and their culture is different that is the reason we go away. If we want everything to be exactly like home why not stay at home. We did find the shopping experience a little more agressive than we would have liked and personally we prefer Turkey as a destination but we all enjoyed our holiday in Tunisia. We have stayed in All-inclusives a couple of times before and found the Sarah Beach to be the best.
We really enjoyed our stay there, our waiter couldn't do enough for us, the minute we got anywhere the table, drinks were waiting for us. As mentioned elswhere the stallholders in the corridor are fine if you just say no thanks.
The only critiscm is that it is a very big busy hotel, which some people find overwhelming, but other people may prefer it that way.
The Boat restaurant was more for snacks, we used it a couple of times just for a change of scenery.

Hi can anyone tell me what the kids club is like at the Sahara Beach hotel? we have a six year old and was just wondering how long they're in there, what time of day and if the kiddies enjoy it or get bored!
Thanks for that, we fly out on the 26th so i'll miss your update. anyhow i'm way to excited about going to worry anymore.
Thanks hun.
