Hi welshoney, we only went out for a couple of hours one night to monastir and that was to go to the bank, we were so tired most of the time, the heat really knocks it out of you. The entertainment in the evening was... fakir show, magic light show, grease, karaoke, mr universe, you bet... all good, entertainment starts about 9.30 after kiddies disco and bingo...it was a nightmare getting a table to sit at after 9, but there again the hotel is booked right up and there had to be about 1500 people there!!!. The only trouble i had with the bottled water is that it didnt quench my thirst.... :? I will put some pictures of the hotel etc on later tonight... :) :)

Hey - Sounds like the hotel is rammed! We're going tomorrow - CANT WAIT!!!!!! I am so excited - packed on saturday so i am all done!

Is the hotel really that packed - I cant see us being off the beach til about 7pm so not much time to get ready for the shows etc. What did people wear there in the evenings - Could you dress up nice or was it very casual shorts and stuff - Just gone and bought a couple of dresses etc so hope i wont be over dressed!

Did u share a table with another couple??? That really worries me!

Did you go to the water park in PEK ?? Sorry again for all the questions!

Write soon,
Jodie

When i was there, there was table sahring going on, but it doesnt pose a problem as long as you get on with the people on your table, we found that we met up with some new arrivals on the first day - think we even met them at the airport on the way out as it goes, and shared their table for our fortnight. Although, depending on what time you take your meals you may not be eating with them anyway!

Hi Jodie, no we didnt go to the water park, we were too bloody lazy to do anything!! As for dressing up at night, it was a mixture of both casual and dressy, just put on whatever you feel comfortable in :) I overpacked as usual and didnt wear half my clothes, but there again my body swells in the heat and some of the slinky little numbers i had made me look like a sausage ready to burst out of its skin!!!   . As for sharing a table, we didnt have that problem( as we had our table reserved from the waiter we met lastt year) and i didnt see anyone else having to share a table. Hope this helps :)
Please make sure you are taking plenty of high factor lotion with you, its getting very hot, hotter than last week and that was hi 30,s low 40,s
Have a great time

Hi all.

Me and my girlfrien are due to go to the Sahara Beach Hotel 2 week on sunday (24th July). I had been a little apprehensive at reading other reviews, but since I have found this website, i am far happier with all the positive things that has been said. There are some odd questions that i would like to ask, if any of you would care to answer, i would be very grateful.

Internet access - is there any locally, or at all?
Plug sockets - are they 2pin same as spain?
Are valuables safe in the room, or are safety deposit boxes strongly recommended?
Are there many plug sockets in the rooms? I need to charge batteries, phone mp3 player etc.

Thank you for your time, and please answer as best you can. Thanks.

You can hire safety deposit boxes which are located by reception.

Thank you for your reply welshoney. I hope you have a great time. I have read all posts in this thread since stumbling upon it this afternoon. The problem is when reading so much all at once, you lose track of who is going and who has been and how long people are going for. So are you just going for 1 week then or 2? I am going for 2. Very much looking forward to it now, but just seen the weather for this week. On Saturday highs of 36c!!! Well hot.

Another question if I may ask you or anyone kind enough to answer please is; clothing at mealtimes, are shorts allowed for men, or does it have to be trousers?
Reply
Hiya, there is only one plug socket in the bedroom and one in the bathroom, as for dress code at mealtimes, they do expect men to wear long trousers in the evening.
Hope you have a great holiday, and dont take any notice what the temperature says, you can add another 10 degrees on top of that!! it showed it as being in the high 30's a couple of weeks ago while i was there but in fact most days it was between 42 and 46!!.
Have a fantastic time :D :D :D

Hi all, just had a couple of thoughts about your holidays to tunisia, not sure if you are aware, but you have to fill in a visa when you land at monastir, it can get quite chaotic, so make sure you have a couple of pens on you, grab the forms and fill them in whilst standing in the queues for passport control, it took us an hour to get through as it was so busy! the tour operators really should make you aware of this and give you the forms to fill out on the plane, it would save a lot of hassle! Also you can save yourself some money on transfers, you can get a taxi for about 5 pound, which gets you to the hotel in 5 mins, saves waiting for everyone to get on coach. And as for the crepes, they didnt do them while i was there, there is a snack bar called the creperie, but it just done pizzas and rolls...
Have a great time.... :D

thanks for that, can let him down gently before we go.
Can I ask what was the sun lounger/ umbrella situation like when you were there?
Not bothered to be right by the pool, just what was your experience of it.
Did you also have any problems with the bottled water, and the bars?
Thanks for your speedy reply

Welshoney, please strive to find out the clothing at mealtimes for men please if you would be so kind. I have read through anumber of forums, and the opinion seems to be very divided as to whether you can wear shorts at evening or not. 50% are saying you can and the other 50% saying no.

Have a great time Welshoney, im sure you will providing you go with an open mind.

my husband is taking a pair of long trousers just in case, he will wear them on the first night to see what happens, have read that 3/4 trousers are acceptable.
But let you know for sure when we get back.
We are going with a very open mind :D

Hi welshoney, we had no problems gettins sunbeds as we were up early each morning, but even in the afternoon they were quite easy to find, i did hear of quite a few people tipping the men who get the sunbed mattresses and they were reserving their favourite spot, there are plenty of parasols around both pools and on the beach, i dont expect you will have any problems finding one. As for what men should wear at meal times, they do expect men to wear long trousers in the evening. 3/4 length are acceptable also.
I,m just trying to book up to go back in a month, i love it there.

thanks for your reply.
Just zipped up the cases, apart from the make-up and hair brushes to go in that's it.
I'm working a long shift tomorrow, so won't have chance to do anything when I get home, apart from hopefully have a couple of hours kip.
If you're looking to book again, it must be good.
Can't wait now. :fly

Just received our tickets through the post today!

Means we are definately ready to go now. The problem is, when you get the tickets, you just wanna go straight away dont you!

If I can wear 3/4 length trousers at mealtime then that will be fine - although I would prefer to wear shorts, but you cant have it all eh. Will wear 3/4 on the first night and then if there are many blokes with shorts and they are ok, then i can do the same the following evening.

Welshoney, have a great time - and dont forget to report back on here as soon as you can! Hey, you could even find net access whilst there and come back on while you are there! You can then give me all the info I need! Just joking. Have a fab time, and cant wait to hear from you on your return!
