We stayed at oasis park with oracle last year and they are nice too. They were a little too far from the centre of the resort for us as we like to be in the middle of it all. There is a bus laid on but, we found it was set times and not that frequent so, we would just either walk up or get the dolmus. We also take teen`s and they love it in altinkum and, they love the boat trip`s they are a good day out for all the family.
If you are into diving my son assures me it`s fine there. He had never dived before he went to turkey a few year`s ago and now he`s out there everyday of his holiday. His girlfriend prefer`s the beach as I do but, if it`s your thing walk along the front and there are plenty of small boat`s to take you out and lunch etc. is included in the price but, you need to book the day before.
If you want a nice sunday lunch when you are there go to sonias bar opposite the horizon hotel on the main road she is from gateshead and married to arkan (he does the cooking)
If you happen to need help with anything sonia is great as she speaks turkish and is a real help with translation at times.
Try characters bar for a good night out its a great laugh in there its at the top of the square cross the road and up the lane. Kevin and Tom are real nice lads and they also organise trips.
The golf bar on the main road do a lovely meal and its got a nice atmosphere in there.
Hope this help`s and enjoy Jacqui
Most helpful. Cheers. I will look forward to savouring the Turkish hospitality. Thanks again for your help.
Hi, Just wondered if anyone has come back from Altinkum lately with any feedback re prices and do`s and don`ts and where to eat etc? Anyone done boat trips or been to the waterpark?
The restaurants along the front are more expensive than up the main road towards Didim, but you get the view and the atmosphere along the front. Summer Garden is the best in Altinkum - can't fault it. Turn left at bottom of hill along front, walk along up the hill and it's on your right. Lovely view of sea - sit outside.
Good Chinese near the Goc Hotel -'The Great Chinese'. Avoid 'Chineses' along the front - we had worst meal in the one up the stairs. If you go up the main road (about 20 mins walk), try Alo 24 opposite Gima supermarket - pizza, pide etc. really cheap and good.
Hope this helps!

Cheers,Lanzafan. We will deffo give the Summer Garden a go as we`ve heard of this before. We know the Alo 24 quite well as we`ve bought an apt at the back of it in Easter but we`ve never been in summer. Some feedback on this forum seems to suggest that prices have soared and that people were being ripped off. Did you find this to be the case? Thanks, Tibbs.
I don't know if prices have gone up, as this was our first visit. Summer Garden prices were a bit less than UK, but excellent quality - would put a lot of British places to shame. Alo 24 - a real feast for less than £5 each, so definitely a lot cheaper than UK.
From what I've read, maybe Turkey isn't as cheap as it once was, but I didn't feel we were ripped off; prices were cheaper than Spain apart from alcohol and sun tan lotion!

Cheers Lanzafan, Good to know you were nt ripped off there is nothing worse.
Do they still have that open air cinema next to the Esra apartments? The first time I saw Titanic was sitting on the roof of Esra watchingit from there. Was so cool. x
What is it like? And where should I definately stay away from?
turkey has gone as dear as the uk we were a family of 4 and spent well over 2 grand still paying now but had a good time
We are arriving at the Esra on the 8th August, any tips on bars and restaurants would be appreciated.
Would you know what sort of exchange rate is being offered in Altinkum and the best places to exchange.
Today on cefax, the rate was only 2.16.

Geordiemustard,
we fly at 5 from newcastle. should be great and you will live the esra apartments. just wish mine had great reviews like that
We went on holiday to Altinkum in May, the best place we found to eat was Big Bens on the sea front, the food was fantastic and the staff very friendly, I would recommend this restaurant to anybody.
We found Big Ben ok for lunches but not evening meal. Best was Summer garden - by far.
Can anyone tell me where the nearest waterpark is please and how far and how much is a trip to ephasus? 2 adults 3 kids.
Cheers
