Me and my two daughters aged 22 and 20 - did Altinkum this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that we plan to do it all again next summer.
After that we plan to do Icemeler and Marmaris respectively. Then probably back to Tinky :-)
It wasnt cheap - and I'd advise you to bring your own drinks such as Malibu as this is extortionate in the bars over there. Red wine was expensive also and that's my tipple :-(
Would like to know what Altinkum is like, is it lively with plenty to do day and night, have it got a nice beach. We have been to Turkey twice, Gumbet and Side.Gumbet was lively, but Side was to quiet for us at night.Someone recommended Altinkum so any feedback about the place would help me.thanks
We only went there for a day out, but although we liked the place itself, we didn`t care too much for the beach. Then again, different people look for different things from a holiday, there are lots of Altinkum devotees on this site.
We will be staying in a brand new complex owned by Seasons Holidays. It should be just completed and due to open for first time in April. It is called Gemini Park and described as a four minute drive from nearest beach and a short walk from main centre. Also described as "Conveniently located on outskirts of Altinkum". Can't decide wether this could be good or bad.
If anyone knows of this new construction, its location and any other useful Altinkum tips please reply.
Finally, hope the bars love the football as we will be there during the world cup.
Thanks for the replys, finding it hard to gather info about this resort.cheers

Hi Meneske. I have been to Altinkum 7 times now and will be there again in August for 3 weeks. (Cant wait) The Nazar is in the most ideal position, a nanosecond from the beach, bars etc. Everything you need is just a minute or two away. I stay in the hotel next to the Nazar. Altinkum is sort of in three areas, you have the 3rd beach which is absolutely lovely, but away from any bars etc, you can get free transport there anytime of the day, from one of the 2 restaurants on the beach there. No catch at all. The second beach is at the far end of the resort, a 10 to 15 minuted walk away. Where you are staying is slap bang in the centre of the resort. I wouldnt choose to stay anywhere else. If you require any more infor, let me know and i will try to answer you. Have fun!

Hi Heather. There are some good bars withing a stones throw of the Nazar. Directly opposite is Barneys, which is great fun, Owls Bar and The Big Nose Bar are both good and only a few yards away. Dolphin Square , packed with restaurants and bars is a 2 minute walk away. We dont tend to use those bars as we find them a bit of a rip off, but its really lively down there. Eating wise, cos im a single parent and on a budget, we usually walk back up towards Didim town (10-15 min walk) opposite Ginas supermarket you will find Saray 24 and Alo 24. These are not posh, but sort of cafe type places, where the Turkish eat. At both of these, you will get the best food, in my opinion, in Altinkum, and its very very cheap, even the beers, soft drinks etc are so much cheaper. Many English tourists have now found these places and i really recommend both. The Suer Restaurant along the front is also very good. The market is in Didim Town on a Saturday, just jump on a Dolmus. The first time i went to Altinkum, we paid to go to the market at Soke, although a lot bigger then Didim, its just the same stuff on sale, so i wudnt recommend you pay to go to another market. Love Tours or Oracle travel (we change our travellers cheques free of charge in Oracle) is whom we usually use for trips etc. Oracle also do trips to the water park in Didim, you just pay the price of entry, they take you there and back, again no catch. Any thing else you would like to know, i will try and answer you

Hi again. There is a Migros a little further on than Alo24 and Saray24 on the same side of the road. Gima, which is another big (ish) supermarket is directly opposite. I really have forgotten what its like to have a 2 year old, my son is now 15, so cant really answer that question. Yes, i agree, the t shirts and tops my son bought in the shops are far better quality than the ones from the market (we've had both). Opposite the Big Nose bar is a little shop type thing where my son bought some brill tops, haggled, and got them for the same price as the market. I have found shoes, bags, cheap jewelry much cheaper at the market though. The only downside with Altinkum (and possible other resorts) is the constant hassling from shop owners/restaurants/bars etc. I lost the will to live on my first visit, and swore i would never go back to Turkey, but i just ignore it now and wouldnt go anywhere else! Please feel free to ask anything else. Wendy

Altinkum, re the hassling, but doesnt seem to make any difference. Why do they not realise, that they would get more custom if they didn't hassle??? I still get annoyed when you cant look at something in a shop before they descend on you, but with the restaurants and bars, i can cope with that, and we also have a lot of friends now in Altinkum. Owwwww roll on my 3 weeks in August, i cant wait! I usually go at the end of May too, butr i cant take my son out of school this year, what with GCSES and that:( Would be great to hear what you think of my most favourite place on earth.
