abit concerned about the comments made on the Caleta Amarillo - I have received a response saying all is well, but would welcome any others.

Can you confirm any good places to eat as we are self catering - is there a water park at corralejo and how far is this from Caleta de Fuste - is it best to book this with the hotel or at a shop locally? Any decent boat trips.

I would welcome any useful information.

We are due to depart late August.
cheers

There is nothing at all to be concerned about, we went for 2 weeks all inclusive and got back last week, if you are self catering you can upgrade to all inclusive when you there and even if you done it for 1 week it is well worth it becasue the food was great, plenty of choice, loads of salads, chicken roast beef, fish (all meat and fish cooked in front of you), curry, plenty for the kids. If you choose to stay self catering just a 2 minute walk up the road you have a chinese restaurant, english and irish pubs all serving food and then if you go down into the town (about a 10 minute walk) there are loads of places to eat, but for us with 2 small kids A/inclusive was great simply for the ice cream, drinks and snacks and it was a bonus that the main meals were of high standard.

There is a waterpark at Correlejo, and you can book it through 1st Choice, it leaves at 0830 and returns at 5pm, it is about 45 minutes on the bus, we didn't go but others did and said it was great. There is also a zoo which again is meant to be great. At the harbour there are sea lions and an aquamarine with a sumbmarine boat which you can go out on, loads of watersports, beachwise the best one is directly behind the Atlantico shopping centre (which also has a hugh Spar in it for s/caterers) it is a really quite beach with no waves, really calm, nice sand with no stones but it can often be a bit windy on the beach. Cannot fault the entertainment team, they were so enthusiastic and they really made our holiday. Side A is much quieter than side B, side B had the showbar and all activities through the day, the showbar closes at 12midnight and everything tends to go quiet around 1 - 2am, but our room was directly opposite the showbar and the noise didn't bother us at all.

You will thoroughly enjoy your holiday, and we would definately go back but next year the Amarilla and the Dorada are merging to make one hugh complex and I think it could possibly be too big!!!

Just to let everyone know that i have just got back from Fuerterventura and stayed at the Caleta Amarilla for 2 weeks. The weather was lovely, sunny everyday, a few clouds in the sky but the sun soon burnt them off. The wind does get a bit chilly in the evenings but take a cardigan and you will be fine.

The Amarilla is nice, but be warned you do have to get up early to get a sunbed! The food is ok, a bit the samey but all the same still nice.

If you like steaks you have to try a resturant down by the harbour, i can't think of the name at the moment but it is upstairs by the lighthouse.

I would also receommend hiring a car and going to see some of the island. We had a car for about 4 days and got around pretty much of the island. El Cotiollo up the top of the island is beautiful. but then again the majority of the island is beutiful.

Anyway if you are going out there soon have fun and enjoy the sunshine.

Marco, we stayed in june 2005, and we were in room 15b, wihich is directly opposite the busy pool and entertainment bar, you actually look onto the steps which lead to the pool but found this was great, especially on a night time as we just went to our room to use the toilet etc. Would request this room again as it was ideally located for everything but it is on the noisier side, but we have 2 small kids (2 and 7) and the noise didnt bother us at all. Food is excellent and entertainment is also excellent, you will love it. Pools are great, freshwater.

Hi, i went to the caleta armarilla apts, i took my hubby and my 4 year old daughter and one year old son. Brillient time had by all, i upgraded to all inclusive when i arrived which worked out a lot cheaper then paying the travel agent. food was great, apart from one night i found a catapillar on my lettuce, but other than that it was perfect. just one word of warning, i went out there on sep 29th, the first week my children never got burnt. I ran out of factor 50 sun cream, i brought some from reception which must have been out of date or something. as my daughter suffered 3rd degree burns on her back,(even though i was always putting cream on her, and she was always wearing a tshirt). even to this day she is scarred. pools were cold during the day, but as i got thrown in late at night i found out this is the time they do get very warm. its a shame you cant go in them of a night, this is the time the cleaner puts lots and i mean lots of chlorine in them. My family prefered the B side of the site, entertainment was fun, i got dragged up on stage a couple of times, to the embarracement of my daughter. but i was on holiday, so for once i joined in. and no i did not regret it. I won a certifacte, it took me 2 weeks to get one, i was determined. The afternoon quiz was a lot harder then i expected, but it was fun anyway. if any one has any questions just ask!
hope you all enjoy your holiday as much as i did.

When I was there in 2005, there was a playground up the steps behind the check-in area, opposite the restaurant. My Daughter left them there twice under supervision (Playgroup)

WHEN I STAYED THERE, THERE WAS NO PLAYGROUND. THEY SAID FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASON THAT THEY HAD TO DISPOSE OF IT!!! BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE BROCHER (SPELT WRONG) THEY ARE STILL SHOWING PICTURES OF THE PARK. BOTH MY CHILDREN WERE DISSAPOINTED.

*Please don't post with caps lock on. Thanks. Pippy*
