I have edited the title of this thread to attract the attention of any members who may be booked with Redcrest Holidays.

Sadly, the company ceased trading yesterday and any members with future bookings are advised to contact ABTA.

Well, not that it has been confirmed, i have to say it is very sad news indeed. I never had any probs travelling with them, loved their staff and accom, and would always recommend them. Unlike a lot of operators, they catered well for people in the north of the UK with no changeovers, etc, and that is what always suited us. Feel really sorry for anyone who has booked with them for the near future, but at least ABTA bonding should do the business money-wise (doesnt replace your holiday though) The only thing i would say about Redcrest, is that i think they were under new management, and i felt that they were maybe just tweaking things a bit too much, too much investment too soon, and trying to branch out into lots of different areas........maybe they paid the price for that!

Shame though.......as someone who doesnt fly, and for whom driving to the Costas is really a bit far, then that only really leaves me one option, and that is Club C!!!

If this is true, and so far I haven't found any info, then a lot of people are
going to be left devastated. Not only people who are waiting to go now,
but people who go with them time after time.
What about Scottishmum? She's got a last minute booked with them :(
Hope she lets us know how she's getting on.

Yep, hope Scottishmum gets back to us and lets us know how she is being dealt with.

I know it's no replacement for the holiday, but i think people will be seen ok with Redcrest's ABTA bonding.....something that is always worth looking for when you book a hol. I was given some snash last night because i was recommending this bigger company, but how would a lot of these smaller unbonded companies handle it!

Sorry not been about much lately and just catching up

As you say at least they're ABTA bonded so it won't be a total loss :(

I just feel so sorry for everybody.

Redcrest's own website now confirms their demise! :(

Unfortunately, my wife read in yesterdays paper about the demise of Redcrest. We concur the comments made by Cider Monster. We used them when our kids were smaller, it was a GOOD, CHEAP holiday. Our two made friends on the Coach going out and when we got to the Camp Site we didn't know we had got kids as they simply vanished !! It was as much a holiday for us as it was for them. We may be dreaming but it would be great if another firm came to their rescue. In 2003 we went to Italy through Newmarket Travel and went with REAYS Coaches. It was their drivers who told us that their firm had taken on the Coaching Transfers to Spain for Redcrest. This we were pleased with as the Reays Livery was a big improvement on the old one. They had also provided new coaches. Being a Lorry Driver myself, i am always looking out for Redcrest Coaches as well as Reays, in fact, it has only been in the past two weeks that i saw a Redcrest Coach, a Double Decker no less !! Here's wishing all employees at Redcrest the very best for the future, you will be sadly missed. :(

I was hearing today that dozens of holidaymakers turned up at the Hamilton collection point for yesterday's Redcrest departure, completely unaware that the company had ceased trading a few days ago.

It's bad enough for those who had some advance warning, but it must be terrible for families only to discover that their holiday is lost when they realise that the coach is not going to turn up. How do you explain that to the kids ?

ABTA had been trying to contact passengers with future departure dates, but obviously some have slipped through the net.

.....as someone who has given Redcrest good reviews, and who has always been an impressed customer.....

......i am disgusted with the happening you mentioned above. For all the good hols i had with them, sadly images like that will only be left in the mind! :(
.....cant remember it really being reported in any of the local media either though, they have to take a small share of the blame.....less reporting on Big Brother nobodies, and more caring about real people!!!

Hi Cider Monster, like your good self, down the years, we have recommended Redcrest to many people with families who were on a tight budget. As you can see, i am still new to HT but feel strongly about the whole situation. In The Sun yesterday, it was only a small piece, tucked away in the top left corner of Sun World Travel. Also mentioned in the same column was the demise of Supreme Travel of Hadleigh, Essex who also went bust this week.

Hi!

I suppose it's inevitable that some people might slip through the net, in terms of being told, but what irks me is that they must have known about their struggles for a while......instead of just closing the shop down, they could have tried a bit harder to contact people beforehand!! Ok, people might be a tad ****ed off to find out they had lost their hols, but better than them turning up on the morning with packed cases, isnt it!

Even more irking (personally!), as i have said elsewhere, is that i am kinda short on coach companies going from my area now! :(

having just literally stepped of a reays coach back from estartit i can tell you that abta are bringing the holiday makers back. we were in the last week of our holiday when emma our great rep came round with the shock news that redcrest had folded we were lucky staying in the mardor apartment as they let us stay out the end of our holiday in our great apartment unfortunatly the holiday makers staying in the miami were told to either pay or move. apart from the fact the coach not having redcrest on it our holiday was exactly the same.

the drivers coming back were telling us the reays has almost signed a deal to take over the holiday side as well as the driving all those on the mailing lists should be aware that reays are going to be contacting they said that the holidays will be the same coach journey, hopefully the same or better accomodation and hopefully cheaper as they are cutting out the middle man.

cidermonster by the way, we had mandy going down, she was great and i loved her hot roast beef sandwich.
