Thanks Barnio. Will try out different bars and report back on our return. Gail
just found time to log on (first time in ages as we went to sacoma to visit the folks for 3 wks last month and work has been manic since) anyway, here i am with your reply (2 months late sorry)
yes mum n dad retired in apr 2001 and moved there for good, sold everything they own here and went to sacoma for a new life in our favourite family holiday place (since 1988). they live in a residential area by the bouganvilla , which is 20min walk from the resort centre. theres apts for sale there now if youre interested, they share a communal garden with pool with others in the block (all nationalities) very friendly area.
if you need any help pm me!
have a look at our website for resort info on your other queries

ps kings head isnt 'rough', just the liveliest bar in resort open late into the early hours , me and my sister always went there during our teens, karaoke then a bop on the dancefloor!
have fun in oct!!!!!!
jem
oops sorry pargaluvva , speltthat not slightly wrong but very wrong! sorry! been a long long busy day
I apologised I think earlier regarding my comment about the Kings Head being a bit rough. I was only going off my own experience with a teenage son who had trouble in there on 2 nights and no he is not a trouble maker at all. We have been in there on countless occasions over the years and have always had great nights and great food if we got a table Lol. Your website is very good indeed, first saw it some months ago and have to say am very envious of your parents. I would like some info on the appts for sale and will ask for it through your site.
Many thanks.
At about 11pm when we were just getting there, all the doors where being shut as there was an absolute riot - chairs being thrown etc., we put this down to a one off and went along the next night to find a young lad with blood pouring down his face coming out and what appeared to be a very drunken father and mother screaming at another apparent "parent couple".
For the record I WOULD NOT allow young teens to go by themselves and would make sure I done an early visit (before the alcohol has been flowing too long)
On a lighter note Sa Coma is a lovely place and there are pigs and hooligans wherever you go.
This was exactly the point I was trying to get across. The clientel in any resort changes weekly and you are bound to get a few bad apples on every change over that can spoil things for people. I for one would recommend Sa Coma to anybody.
Don't have the fruit in your drink in the bar near the mini golf, saw a bar maid the one with cropped hair and glasses spray mossie spray all over the glasses and fruit.
The mini golf is expensive now, 4 euro's per child and 5 euro's per adult, it works out £12 for 2 adults and 2 kids for 18 holes. We used to walk around with the kids playing mini golf, its not allowed anymore they want 5 euro's off you, its a rip off to make the adults play.
Safairi park has started A/I for 1 german company and they might extend across the whole apartments next year, just checked the protur site and its 26 euro's per adult and 13 euro's per child upto 14 years old per day. I was told many of the bar owners are worried because the bouganville is going A/I next year and it has 2500 beds, they are expecting a turn down in business. There is a feeling once the bouganville goes A/I others will follow.
Mike
I certainly wouldn't have any desire to stay on the Bouganvilla complex - we didn't stay "on site" last year when we went s/c and with lovely bars selling great value for money food, drink and entertainment just a 20 minute walk away I wouldn't pay to stay A/I.
Its a very large complex, we went at the end of September - but A/I and peak season? I should imagine it would be a nightmare (or at least my version of one)
We went to Bouganvilla in 1992, before it was owned by Airtours, 1993, and 1994. Went again in 1998 for 1 week and saw a definate downturn in the place. AI for this place will def be butlins in the sun, just like we have had in turkey this year. People need to get out and about and see the resort not pack them in like sardines and feed them full of alcohol.
Hi Jem. Thanks for your message. Just got back from Greece today. I've sent you a pm and look forward to your reply. Thanks. Gail
Are all Protur hotels going All Inclusive. What a shame if they do.
We love Sa Coma, but we much prefer walking into the next town called Sillot for our meals out. There are excellent Spanish restaurants, such as Lago and Cala Moreya, British bars and restaurants, such as The Red Lion and Poker, and also The Indian Restaurant which was recommended to us and we enjoyed it so much ate there three times and had a takeaway! All of these restaurants are very welcoming and good value for money, and have a good selection of food when you want to eat something other than burgers and chips everyday!
now i'm back in freezing Manchester with a 20 degree drop in temperature.
the holiday blues are arriving
Sa Coma is a nice place, caters loads for the British. I highly reccommend the British El Baron restaurant where the food was lovely.
Being an Only Fools and Horses fan, i would not advise people to go in 'Fools and Horses' or 'The Nags Head', they seem to be under new management from last year, they had hardly any beer left and most of the food on the menu has been crossed out. Its a big shame because i've heard it used to be good.
As far as I know not!
to Protur hotels becoming AI
This year you could pay per day to go AI.
We didn't though too busy trying out the local places
Hi everyone. Had a few glasses of wine but I need to talk about Sa Coma. Anyone been recently? Can't wait to get back next year. Thinking about buying an apartment. Anyone got any info/feedback on best places to eat drink/buy property? Or just general chit chat.
In my opinion the area by Cabrabo and bouganville would retain its value much better in the long term as the property prices can not carry on going up like they have in the last 5 years and i think will now start to level off. Don't let me put you off buying somewhere as you will get vast enjoyment if you are able to visit on a regular basis like we do and soon find the little bars and resturants that open in the winter months and we enjoy this time of year as you can get around the island to look at the hidden gems that you miss in the hot months when you can't be bothered.
If you are serious about buying then it is a must to visit in the winter as you get a much better idea about what is going on around the area just incase you need help with maintanance or other jobs.
We stayed at the Taliyot hotel in Millor in winter time and it was plain but nice and gave us a base to have a look around but we made our mind up to buy in Cala Egos and have never regretted it and are lucky enough to go each month for a stay, so be brave and go and buy and enjoy yourself
in the future, good luck, Steve.
Sa Coma a couple of weeks ago? We were there at the end of October and most places were closing on or around the 29th Oct. We thought probably Cala Bona/Cala Millor would be busier than Sa Coma. We are looking at apts in the centre of Sa Coma (I know they have gone up about 60 grand since I last looked . but we would like to be close to the beach/Sa Coma centre. Glad to hear you are enjoying your apartment. Where abouts is Cala Egos?
Hi there, In Sa coma we drove up and down the main road and saw only 2 "local" bars open but i am sure that you would find a few more as in Cala Egos, Cala D 'or they take it in turn to open up on different days and nights so that most days someone is open. We stayed in the Vista Badia twice and loved the area and don't think that you would have a problem letting property in this area as it is ideal for the beach and the bars around here, also it is only minutes to Cala Millor where lots of bars were still open. we also went to Cala Bona and was suprised that some of the bars were open around the new harbour cafe and it was very plesant sitting out people watching. They was just building the apartment blocks by Delany,s Irish bar in 2000 and i think they were £ 105,000 to £ 115,000 What are they now? We paid £ 117,000 and they are now selling for £ 205,000 pounds!!!!! not a bad return for 5 years investment so as long as you buy the right place you will never loose, even if you keep it for a few years and then sell it you should still make money, and have free holidays. Best wishes Steve.
Hi Steve. Dont think the apartments near Delaneys are completeed (could be wrong). We are looking near the beach front so if anyone has a 2/3 bed apt for sale get in touch please. Will be forever grateful
