Thanks Wee Puddock. Gail
If I have the right ones, they are called Europa. These are the ones just behind the "Happy Bar" 3 blocks set around a pool. Across the road from the Britannia and next door to Sa Coma Platja apartments, could post the photo if you can tell me how!
Hope this helps. We have had a great time, first in Majorca and not the last loved Sa Coma and the Coma Gran is an excellant place to stay.
Hi Wee Puddock and thanks for your reply. I'm trying to remember the Happy Bar. Is it run by a Majorcan couple, very narrow inside, with shaded seating outside, and some sort of bird in cage The apartments I am thinking of are opposite the big hotel on the corner (this hotel opposite side of the road to the Coma Gran). I thought they were privately owned but this might not be the case now. I don't know how to post a photo but my hubby might. I'll ask him when he gets back (gone for a Saturday lunchtime pint! All right for some. Gail
I am sure these are the ones. It said "Private" on the sign and for the car park too and they are exactly where you describe. I think the happy bar used to be called something else, so maybe that is why you don't remember it.
I am missing Sa Coma already, we really did have a lovely time and an excellant choice for our first visit to Majorca.
Playa Blanca
A charming establishment with a lovely atmosphere situated on the outskirts of S' Illot and Sa Coma, 250 m from centre of Sa Coma, with its wide sandy beach and plenty of amenities, especially for families.
Cant find any reviews about it

Just booked for the ComaGran (anyone been there in October? What's it like?) for two weeks in october, 14-28th. I was just wondering if anyone has experience of the weather at that time? To be honest, as long as we get a few sunny days we're not that fussy but I looked on weather sites on the net and scared myself reading about thunderstorms and torrential rain.... any info appreciated.

Does sa Coma attract teenagers and are there any bars there that would suit this age group.
http://www.aboutsacoma.com. has lots of information on SaComa. Hope this helps
Sa coma is family orientated, but yes there will be teenages there, but check out a site called
Thanks we want a family resort but with a few places were teenagers can mix with their peers and make friends.
Hi..we took our 17 year old son with us to sa coma.... we never saw much of him... he got in with a group his own age and was out every night...he had a great time... there was a few pubs that were open till 3 in the morning with entertainment on... like the brittania and the kings head...
First went to Sa Coma in 1992 and wouldn't have liked to have had a teen with me then but have been 12 times since and it has def developed. I would have no problems taking them now with friends although the Kings Head can get a bit rough at times especially later on at night
Hi Barnio. You mention the Kings Head gets a bit rough at times. What do you mean by 'rough'? We are going to Sa Coma in October with teenagers and thought we might give them a bit of freedom! I havent been to Sa Coma for about 6 years (first visit was in 1989) and I thought it quite family orientated.
We have just come back from sa coma and my 17 year old son went to the kings head every night and he did not come across any trouble....

Thanks Scully27. Me and my friend are taking our kids in October and while we won't let them out drinking on their own (oldest 15) we did think they might be OK going out for a walk etc on their own. Is this the case? What's Sa Coma like peak season? Does the Britannia still get busy? Might try Sa Coma August next year. Thanks in advance. Gail
My apologies for the paranoia. On our last visit, my son was 16 years old and we too decided to give him some "slack". One night in the Kings Head he accidentally knocked over someones drink. He had on him only 2 euro's as he was on his way back to the appt soon (it was about 12.30am ish). The guy who whose drink it was got him by the throat, called him a couple of names (swearing) and told him to get his dad to buy the drink. He was a bully. I went round because my son was very upset and the guy was like a litle lamb, obviously didn't expect me to turn up and ended up buying ME a drink to apologise.
The following night, my son's friend who he had met on holiday was punched in the face by a kid who was on his last night. The reason was over a foul shot on the pool table !!
I think the main problem appeared to be that kids were being served alcohol underage with no monitoring of the quantities consumed.
Like I say, this was probably isolated incidents in what I consider to be a fantastic resort where I would go without a moments hesitation.
Incidentally, there are other bars that do not seem to get mentioned on any internet site. One I would definately recommend is the Bar Cristobal which is just over the road from the Kings Head on the rounabout by the mall where the market is sometimes held. It is owned by a Mallorcan guy called Gabriel, he has had 3 bars in the resort now and this one is great. Pool tables, aircon, Britsih Sky Tv (he loves the Premiership, England, Real Mallorca and his kids are now surrogate Blackburn Rovers supporters thanks to us). He cannot do enough for you, takes no nonsense of drunks and makes the bar a great place for families and "sensible" groups of teenagers alike.
Go and have agreat time.
Hi Barnio. Thanks for you reply. Will def try Christobal. It seems that the only bars that get a regular mention are the Kings Head, Britannia, and a couple of others. Are there any other bars/eating places you would recommend. Thanks. Gail
yes there's loads of places to go the only thing all people talk about is the britannia and the kings head!!
Try El Sol for great meals, Only Fools for the fish and chip night, the mexican for kebabs, vista badia who i think will serve if you pay on the night and there is a restaurant on the corner after the kings head before you turn up to the vista badia reception which serve excellent food and are very nice people as well. Another restaurant is next to this place where the food is equally as good.
It's a real pity that us brits only see the sign of a union jack and think "great lets get some grub" because if you look around in Sa Coma there are some really nice places to spend your evening.
Obviously, the brits that I have met in Gabriels haven't cottoned on to this site because I am sure they would back up my opinion of his bar.
