Hi pat62, living where you do, have you checked out Harry Shaws website?? They don't do Estartit but certainly do Camp Sanguli at Salou. Being based at Coventry, they, like Redcrest certainly pass by your doorstep. We have seriously considered using them after having seen their accommodations at first hand. Like Cidermonster and a lot of loyal Redcrest customers, we live in hope that someone like Reays can salvage some of the wreckage.

Yeah thanks they look ok.. but Part of the enjoyment of my holiday is booking it checking it out etc.. so I like a all singing and dancing brochure>>>> but ill have another look

Hi again pat62. The beauty of Camp Sanguli is that you can get on the Wally Trolley on the seafront and go direct to Port Aventura Theme Park. This is assuming that you are going as a Family. Really smashing Camp Site. Like Castle Montgri, the entertainment is on a 14 day cycle. It was intriguing to see how the Spanish go about camping with their gazebos and tables nicely laid out with a tablecloth and a vase of flowers, we know nothing !!

I'd love to drive to the Costas, Pat, but given my distance, plus the fact that im the only driver, it would be a real long journey!! :( If i lived in the south of England, i'd definitely try driving. Driven to Brittany, and that is long enough from here!!

Train? Dunno how easy it is, or how much it would cost to be honest.....worth looking into i suppose.....let me know how you get on :)

well I did look into going by train, and it looked really good, you can get cabins, so it would be a really comfortable trip, it is more expensive and your going to miss out on the social aspect of going by coach..

Tell ya what.. if i win the lottery I will buy a coach that has upstairs cabins for sleeping.. ill even let you have a space for the launch......dreaming again

I sent an e-mail to CBDIRECT and this is the reply i got from them.I wilol try and find out if they are planning on doing the bus and let you guys all know.

Thank you for your e-mail.
We have not taken over Redcrest, however we have always owned the accommodation at Calella. Andy and Julie are joining us and everything will be as with previous visits with improvements we hope. Our website costabravadirect.com has an on-line booking facility or you can ring us on 01228 404304.

So i went onto the site to book and there server was down. They also seem a bit cheaper and when i do get to book online there is no deposit to pay.

Just what i expected to be honest. I think unless you get someone like Reays taking over the whole operation, then you will just see old Redcrest accom taken over by other operators, and your fav reps in another uniform. It will just be snapped up piece by piece

Does anyone know the name and address of the official company receiver for Redcrest?

is anyone else waiting for refund from abta? we were in the miami appartments when they (redcrest)went down we had to pay over £790 to the owners to be able to stay, as we have friends who are there the same time as us each year we opted to pay being assured we would recieve the money straight back. 6 months on we are still waiting and accruing charges on the credit card.any advice would be welcomed from a long standing redcrest customer and visitor to estartit for 20 years.

Have to be honest, and ask what the terms are with ABTA if something like this happens? I honestly thought that they would pay to repatriate you, but i didnt know they would pay for you to stay on for the rest of your holiday?

However, if that is the case, then i wish you the best of luck with it, and i'd be taking them for every penny of the interest charges too! Did you manage to get anything in writing regarding the compensation?

yeah we got some paperwork in estartit and loads of other bits but they keep writing and asking for more i'm keeping hoping though cos i could do with the money to fund this years jaunt back to estartit of course by the way if anyone is going to apply to abta, the closing date for redcrest applications is 15 th feb.

Good that you got it in writing, i dont really see how they can refuse - and like i said, i'd be trying to get the interest too, as that has been quite a drag for you!

who are you thinking of travelling with this year? I had been thinking of going back this year too, but i dunno!

hi linroo, just wanted to say hi i was in estartit in the same time as you and i think we may have seen each other in planet bar.

i am sorry to hear youre still waiting to hear about the money i really hope they pull their finger out and pay up.

i have read today that abta are no lomger going to ask for bonds from travel agencys so therefore will no longer give the travel maker there money back. i will find the kink if anyone wants to read it.
