Just what i wanted to hear 10 days before i go to the sol tenerife
Anyway i WILL have a good time regardless
I know what you mean no a post that you wanted to read just before you fly away.
I don't agree with a lot of fairwishes comments, but hey that's life and this is an open forum for peoples views. And i look forward to reading yours when you come home.
I think it is the first time that i have heard it called, shabby, dated and the rooms pokey and dirty.
I think it is a great hotel, in a fantastic location, the rooms were fine, bathrooms clean and tidy. But i did say balconys were small and seethrough
So much that i sent my parents here last year.
My only fault with it was the choice of food. And i could have been a bit harsh about this. As the food was cooked well and we ate in every night. But it was just that there was not a lot of choice compared to some other 4* hotels i have stayed in. There are 2 restaurants we used to eat breakfast at the outside one, it was lovely in a morning having the sun on your back whilst eating brekkie. Evening we went to the restaurant on the 1st floor.
You sound like a fun person, so i have no doubt you will have a great time, and visit some fantastic bars cause there are loads.
Read this topic and you'll have a great time.

Look forward to reading your reply and have a great holiday.
I founf hotel clean and rooms fab - we were in the tower on the left as you walk into the hotel. rooms where loveley
Yes i will write a review on this hotel as soon as i get back
Please don't panic aout going to the sol hotel you will have a fab time you see... :0)
You have to remember i am comparing it to the hotel we stayed in and I can't lie i was dead relieved we ended up in the Bitacora.
But i am sure you will have a fab time, the location is to die for, the pool is really nice, the staff are all dead friendly a little toe friendly but hey it just means they are doing there job properly.
My mum and dad really liked the food, i ate their one night and was not keen to be honest but then my mum still says now she really liked it..
My opinion stands on my parents room and bathroom i'm afriad but again i was comparing it to our hotel room which was huge and spacious. And my parents bathroom at the sol was grotty but that does not mean all the other bathrooms are.
As i remember the furniture in the bedroom was newish looking but the room was very cramped. However unless they have had a major refurbish you will see what i mean about the reception area and furniture being shabby and the hallways being shabby etc...
You will have a fab holiday tho and the hotel will be fine we were just spoilt with the Bitacora :0)
Havnig said all that we are going to Tenerife next year i just booked this week and my parents didn't want to go back to the Sol so we booked them in the Las Palmeras which is just near it...
If you were to go to the Bitacora which is up by the Vulcano and the Siesta and saw the reception area you would prob understand why i was so harsh on the Sol Tenerife...
But you will have a fab time you see :0)
I also thought that normal restaurants did really rank food and it was hard to find anywhere ncie to eat.
DO NOT GO TO AN ALL YOU CAN EAT CHINESE BUFFET!!!!!
DOG FOOD OR WHAT!!!!!
Its like i said before, there have been far more better reviews about the sol tenerife, than bad ones,so although a bit nervous ,i am really looking forward to it and only 5 days to go
Although have heard the weather sounds really dodgy next week though
Dont know what the big panic I have stayed in the Sol Tenerife many a time and each visit I thought it was great.
Food just the same as any other tenerife hotel ( believe you me I have stayed in many of them )
Rooms are quite spacious and every room I have stayed in was very clean ( I have spent 10 years in Hotel management ) I have seen dirty rooms elsewhere.
Again you are right next door to Veronicas, but if you talk nicely to receptionist on arrival they will put you in the left block. I have always got the left block and 8th floor ( a little common courtesy goes a long way.
Restaurant was just refurbed and most times I was there most people were wanting to sit outside.
All round a good hotel a little old dated but most of them are they are refurbing quite alot though a little at a time. You will get a little noise but you will in most hotels in las americas.
Food is fabulous, Suzie, Charlie and Craig will give a big welcome just tell them graeme and paul sent you
Surprised you have not tried it alison.m its a truly scots bar.
just back! the hotel is lovely! great air conditioning! went to the full monty and the jags bar! the full monty is a great pub and the jags bar food was just like home! x
http://www.solmelia.com at 20€ per room per night. Not bad eh!!
And I have just booked to go on 23rd October for 5 nights. Really cheap through
Where did you find these prices from as i sure can't find them. And i have searched this site. This is the best i could find.
I have a solmelia loyalty card, so sometimes get offers sent to me before they go on sale to the general public, but this one seems to be open to all.
I have done that but i just keep getting a blank screen.
Maybe this will work? I am sure this can't just be for cardholders
I don't actually need it, as i have accommodation already booked. But i have added this page into my web favourites.
Perhaps a Mod could move the link to a more appropriate place for me please?
Thinking on booking a good deal to this hotel for next week. I know the location etc, and know I need to ask for a room facing away from Veronicas!
Can anyone tell me more. I'd specifically like to know about the food. We are vegetarian. We'd be looking for salad, pasta, tomato sauce, chips, bread....that kind of thing. I know some hotels do the separate pastas and sauces. I'm hoping they might have that - and that one of the sauces might be tomato (vegetarian!).
Any info much appreciated.
if you can get a 'good deal' then go for it.
Location is excellent.
I just didn't like the food as did a lot of other people. Can't put my fnger on it, but for me it was bland.
I would rather go out and pay, there are loads of cheap places to eat.
But the hotel itself is good. Let us know what you decide.
I'm of 14th nov.
Do you happen to know about vegetarian food - did they have pasta and chips?
We can get for £300 each half board from Glasgow.
We really liked Las Dalias previously, but feel the rooms are getting a little run down. Also, I can't get a good price for it! Flights are £160 each just now. So to match the deal at Sol, I'd need to get a similar/better room for £280 for a week half board. My £300 deal includes transfers too.
