I prefer PDC as there is more going on in it. My partner works in horse racin and so we are keen racing fans and it was hard to see Kempton and leopardstown not to mind have a bet in PB. Palms Bar in PDC has full betting shop and loads of screens to look at Racing on boxing day.
There was nothing wrong with PB we enjoyed it and the Timanfaya Palace was magical and they really did the Santa thing well. You better book something soon. I booked mine in March or April and I know somebody who booked the very same package for £200 per head yes per head more expensive. Tour operators excuse was that they had to buy extra rooms in san Antonio and they were way more expensive. Yea Right!
Any age will love Lanzarote for Christmas. There might be a few showers and wind but heck you can go out for a walk on Christmas Day and not be frozen solid. You wont spend thewhole day stuffing your face in front of the fire watching TV.
spent last new years eve in pdc flew out boxing day for a week had a great time , this year we are flying out xmas day which should be a strange feeling saving a hell of a lot on flights by flying out xmas day than boxing day!just six adults went last year this time we have three young children in party and im sure the will enjoy pdc
Definitely PDC its a fab resort
We went to PDC two years ago flying out on Christmas Day. Although we had a whale of a time on flight I dont think anybody else on board new it was Christmas - what a miserable lot. The cabin crew appeared to be really pleased we were on flight to cheer them up. I have a niece who is cabin crew and she says that all the crew who work Christmas Day say there is never much atmosphere amongst passenegers - it appeared to be true on our flight.
We have not been able to go back again at Christmastime because of work commitments and all the flights I look at are ALWAYS on a Thursday so I would be very interested to know who you are flying with this year on a Sunday. You never know I might just be able to get there yet.
Cheers.
Hiya It's Thomsons mainly who fly to Lanzarote on a Sunday
Madsue is correct its a Thomson flight, booked through a company called cheapestflights who also got us the apartments (Plaza Azul) as there is now 14 in our party we should create a atmosphere on the flight, looking forward to it very much
We have never been in Dec/Jan - what's the weather likely to be like - Is it sunbathing weather.
The weather in Dec/Jan is mixed - some showers/cloud and sunshine is usual. Last Xmas we had one poor week followed by a week of solid sunshine! The highest temperature is around 70, and you need a jacket at night.
The cost is not important as long as the food is good and the restaurant is special. If you cant spend a few euro for the christmas dinner not much point in slaving all year.
If you have any suggestions will you advce on location as we are not sure of the street names but we know our way around well.
My hubbie and I like our food and have to admit that you really can't go too far wrong anywhere in PDC - particularly in the old town.
We like;
Le Casa Puerto
El Tomato
Le Dolca Vita
I've never eaten in any of the Lani's - I've read so much conflicting information to have formed that opinion that it's safer not to do a personal test!
Hope this helps!
as ammg said head for the old town in pdc.by the harbour
i spent the melinium in lanzarote, booked into a resturant called
peurto-rc-viego,by the harbour right beside the square, but you have to book in advance
irene :wave.
perhaps one of our members madsue from lanzarote will read this post and be of more help to you
Can anyone recommend any restaurants/bars where we can book a christmas lunch for 10, that is reasonably priced, is suitable for children (from 7 upwards) and within walking distance. Telephone numbers and/or websites would be very useful and very much appreciated as I would imagine we should get this booked asap.
Many thanks in advance.
Have you checked that Club Calypso aren't putting on their own Xmas Dinner and entertainment? I would be most surprised if they are not doing it!!! I can easily check for you if you would like me to
We have found out that Club Calypso are offering a christmas dinner for 37 euros and half price for children, but before making a decision we just wanted to see what our options are.
There are so many good restaurants in PDC I think you would be foolish to go for one of these "set" dos. El Tomato, Le Cascada Puerto are two I've been in and would be happy to go back to. I've heard that the Flat Boat is also very good.
IMO the Xmas Day meals and festivities put on by the complexes are excellent value for money and great fun. It's still nice to celebrate a traditional Xmas here, and then spend the rest of the holiday trying out the other restaurants.
Anybody know if it has a website, trying to book somewhere for xmas dinner I know it has a nice setting is the food ok? grateful for any opinions
hi. i found a site that said there is a fiesta in costa teguise on xmas eve but couldnt find out any more info would love to hear from anyone who has spent xmas in this resort. thanx
Can you put a link up to that site holqueen? As I have mentioned on another thread, Xmas Eve is a big holiday for the spanish, so they have fiestas (parties) in their own homes. The main public fiesta here is for the Three Kings on the night of 5th January, which is their "Xmas Eve"
hi madsue
