Kat, when we stayed in Protaras last year, we were not warned beforehand that some villas were in the middle of been built....just at the back of our apts! :evil: We only realised when we were woken up at 7.00am the next morning, with lorries piling down, drills going off etc! :rage We complained to the Rep before we left resort......tried to say "they have only just started building them, thats why you werent told....." :swear :swear ....dont think so! When we returned from our holiday, i wrote a strong letter telling them how dissatisfied i was with our holiday been ruined, with the building work taking place, etc. To cut a long story short, they wrote back and sent us a "voucher" for £390 which we could take off our next holiday, which we have done. Going to Cyprus next July :P My advice to you would be to write a letter to the company responsible, telling them everything that happened on your holiday. And how dissatisfied you are. It worked for me!! :gluck xx

Thanks i think i will as they have all of my concerns prior to us going as i sent letter via our travel agent and have loggs of all my phone calls.

I recently had a holiday delay problem and wisely followed the advice offered by many posters on this forum. I rang Mrs Ros Fernihough, a specialist travel lawyer, and her advice has proven invaluable. You should ring her on 01922 621114.

I'm no expert (Ros is) but by my reckoning your foresight in writing to your tour operator prior to your departure should have prompted them to warn of problems that would obviously concern you.

I'd ring her today. Glad I did.

In my experience, perseverence is the key to claiming against a travel company. Above all.............TAKE PHOTOS TAKE PHOTOS TAKE PHOTOS.

Libra holidays LIED their backsides off, as did their Rep, who had been in agreement with all of our problems whilst in resort.

We ended up in arbitration, best thing we did.....Libra hols had been offering £50 each compo for a £2500 hol. We ended up with almost half the cost of the holiday back after 'court'.

Don't be scared to take these companies on, especially if you have firm evidence of your complaints.

If anyone would like to talk to me about my claim.......which was mainly about the state of the beds, the food (which was basically my word against theirs, and the entertainment, again, hard to prove!), please contact me via personal email or on this wonderful website.

awaiting a court date to take direct holidays to court.it has been going on since last

It was Libra Hols that we took to arbitration, and won.

We are at the moment in talks with solicitors regarding Direct Hols. It has been on going since last Xmas............so we'll see what happens, but there is a group of us, so plenty of witnesses!

:evil: Hi everyone
Just though i'd let you know i am still waiting to hear from 1st choice.
I posted my letter to them recorded delivery 26 days ago and have been told ( by me ringing them ) that the matter is being investigated.
I have kept an eye on reviews and it appears people are now being told of the building work b4 they go!!!!!!
That was only 1 of my complaints but at least they are now telling people.
Does anyone know how long they have to give a full reply?
