I would recommend you checl out the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club and join one of them
they both operate a large sites network with decent standards at good costs
but do be aware that you have to know what you want to do as they don't give you entertainment

Commercial sites will give you the entertainment but at a price and you also get that b*****y Bradley Bear and Rory the tiger

The Camping and Caravanning club site at Luss in Scotland is on the shores of Loch Lomond, in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen, espec ially if you can get a pitch right on the loch shore like we did. It`s the most beautiful sight to wake up to in the morning. Also has practically tame swans that come to your door for titbits. It`s also well positioned for travelling round several interesting places, including hauntingly magnificent Glencoe.

Thanks for those replies, the site in Scotland sounds lovely, my son always says he wants to go to Scotland and has never been. I shall look into joining the C & C club. Just been buying a few extras to go in the trailer, hook up, etc. Dont plan to use it till next year now, but want to get sorted for then. Cant wait.

Thanks for the PM about pics for Scotland, but we feel it is too far for us to travel, going to try a bit closer to home first. But will know where to ask if we do decide to venture further afield.

We purchased a folding camper this year and have had a fantastic summer camping. We managed to get away 12 times between mid May and mid September.

Where abouts are you based ?

If you look on http://www.ukcampsites.co.uk they have a good list of campsites, some have reviews.

Where based in Yorkshire and mostly visited Yorkshire but if I can help let me know.

My favorite site is at Pickering North Yorkshire there`s 2 sites Upper Carr and The Black Bull both opposite each other. There`s a nine hole golf course and a cycle track close by and best of all a good pub doing food and children are welcome. You are close to Flaming Land and a short drive to Filey and Scarbourgh.

Another site we enjoyed was South Lea near to Pocklington very friendly owners spotless toilets an showers. A 5 min drive into Pocklington which has some good pubs doing food. A short drive from York.

There`s a few of my favorites, I can`t wait till next year to try some more.
