October 27 to November 10
FLIGHTS:
Oct. 27: US Airways from MAN(UK) to LAS via PHL. We booked online and were allocated seats at that time. OK seats on both flights. Return flights were similar seating.
HOTELS:
Oct. 27: MGM Grand. Used the airport check in, and there was no line. Nice room, but it smelled really smoky. If we were staying for more than one night I would have had to move.
Oct. 28 to Nov. 6: Imperial Palace on their Autumn Escape deal. We checked in quite early but they had rooms ready. Not a bad room, just a long walk to it. We either used the back elevators or went a roundabout route to another bank of elevators. The main ones are slow and there are always lots of people waiting for them. The only bad think that springs to mind is that there is no lid on the toilet seat. Just a little idiosyncrasy of mine, I prefer to have a lid.
Nov. 6 to Nov 10: Aladdin on their CEARLY internet deal. Really liked the room here. There was a lovely big bathtub, and a separate shower. Didn't like the water at $4.95 a bottle. We were charged for two bottles on one of the days, but had it removed from our bill without a murmur. I wondered if that was a common occurrence.
FOOD:
We mainly ate at buffets or Ellis Island. We have quite different tastes in food, so the buffet is the best way for us to eat together. We used quite a few 2 / 1 coupons for our meals. New buffets for us were Stardust and Texas Station. Stardust was OK for breakfast, but we really enjoyed the Texas Station dinner buffet. We will add this one to our list.
GAMBLING:
We just played penny video slots at a few different casinos. Had my first attempt at video poker and didn't do so well. It seems easier at home with Bob Dancer. Didn't lose too much money, but went back to the slots where I feel more comfortable. Didn't win big, but had a good time.
MISCELLANEOUS:
We went in lots of casinos both on and off strip. Said goodbye to the Ho and Boardwalk. Probably won't miss either of them, but went in them for the last time anyway.
We used the CAT bus system quite a lot. The new Deuce bus is incredibly slow and we felt sorry for people using it to try to get to work. I think they need to bring back the express service on the strip to improve matters.
New casinos for us were Texas Station, Green Valley Ranch and The Wynn. I joined the slot club at each one and now have a red card with my name on it.
Because it was late in the season, most pools were officially closed, although there were lots of people sunbathing and even a few swimmers. The weather was really quite nice for the whole of our visit.
CONCLUSION:
We had another good trip to Las Vegas. Can't wait for the next one, which will most likely be May next year. We didn't do as much as we had planned, but that is down to my illness and can't be helped. We enjoyed what we did get to do and that is the main thing.
Thanks for reading.
