Maldives flights

I haven't been but I think it is just over 12 hours.9 hours- were you quoted that as the flight time?

Depends on whether it's a direct flight or not. If going with Emitates and changing at Dubai, or Quatar via doha etc, 13 hours is probably close to the mark.

If it's one of the non-stop (as opposed to direct!) charter flights, it will be around 10 hours - but it does vary according to winds and routing - we've done it in as little as 9:35 and as long as 10.30 on the same airline!!

Those are great times! I did think the flights were longer.

Hi, thanks for the replies :) Were flying with Brittannia or whatever there called now so I presume it's a charter flight. Hopefully it'll be nearer 10 hours then (not a good flyer  ).

Thanks

Hi Yorkieone
I agree with TAH-M, It seems that the flights to the Maldives during Feb and March tend to have a decent tail wind, we fly out on the 5th March and are hoping for the same, but for every good point there is the other side,, the return journey seems to drag on and on, those strong tail winds become strong headwinds for the return journey.
Still what a great place to go :sun

Have a go at diving

Hi joe, that was partly what had me confused, on the booking confirmation we've got the outward journey times were shorter than the return.

Were these times the actual flight times or the arrival and departures times?

Hi yorkieone
As a rule of thumb, if you fly west to east you generally pick up a decent tail wind, obviously its a headwind for the return.
I am told that it differs in the southern hemisphere.

If you are on the Monarch flight (which takes off from Manchester and then stops at Gatwick to taxi service) then the continuing journey is direct and takes just over 10 hours.

Thanks again :D

Hi Fiona, I think that there the depature and arrival times.

if it is departure and arrival times remember you have to allow for the fact that you have to adjust your watch to the local time. For instance my last holiday, looking at arrival and dep times only- it would read as 10 hours going and 18 hours coming back!! Also, as Joe says, there can be quite a genuine difference in flight time there and back depending on tail winds( and probably other issues but I'm no expert!)
Whatever the flight time- it will be worth it!

We arrived back from Male yesterday to Gatwick. Direct flight with Monarch took just over 11hrs. Can't remember what it was going out.

This may be of some help.A direct flight from Heathrow to Male is 10 hours 20 minutes.Gatwick to Male I would have thought have a similar flight time.It may of course depend on the airline being used and a whole host of other factors.

I am flying out with monarch on the 10th July we are flying via manchester and because of our inconvenience we have been given £200 off. If we had flown straight from Manchester we would have to pay the normal cost of the flight. By the way with monarch what planes fly out the maldives? Is there any inflight entertainment?

everyone has summed it up, down to whether you had direct flights or not.

when we went we took off from manchester, landed at gatwick, took on again, landed at bahrain and then landed at marle in maldives. Then a short but ride to the sea port and had to wait 2hrs for our plane, then 45 minutes to the island ( sun island ) and then a 10 minutes ride on a boat.

Think ours was around 18 hours start to finish, sounds worse than it is. As you get off the plane in bahrain for a couple of hours and at least can have a shop. Once you land in the Madives and see the blue water and feel the heat, you forget all the aches from the travel !!!!
