I normally go to Benidorm in October, but next year I fancy a change. I have been to Cyprus before, but that was in August. I'm thinking of either Limassol or Paphos and what i'd like to know is....what the weather is normally like and if the resorts start closing down at this time of year. I'll be going round the 13th October for 2 weeks.
Thanks for any advice.

We went to Paphos the same week in October 2005.
The weather was actually cooler than average - generally 20 C most days, dry and sunny.
It was ideal for our little ones as they could be outside playing on the beach all day, every day, unlike during July when between 12-4 the temperature soared above 30 C.
The nights are a little cooler but if you take the right clothes this will not dampen your holiday.
We found this time of year the temperature is great for exploring the cultural side of Cyprus and eating outside in pleasant temperatures even during the day.
Paphos does not really close down and is still very vibrant in October.
All the bars and restaraunts are open and busy.
Paphos during half term seems very popular.
Depending on what type of holiday you are looking for you will have a great time in Cyprus.
Have a great holiday.

Thanks for the replies. Not going to book anything as yet, but certainly decided to go there, going to try Paphos. I'll let you know when I book somewhere.
Sorry for being so blatant Gaileruk, we love cyprus & get there every opportunity we can, october is great, even in November its good, we bought our own apartment last year which is just finished.,
We have been to Cyprus for second and third weeks in October for the last two years. Had some rain this year ( Just a couple of times ) but apart from some wind this year it was hot, hot, hot. Have booked for next year but going on the 1st. Can highly recommend it. We found it not quite as commercial as Spain and everyone friendly and helpful. We even wrote to Cyprus Tourist Organisation and complimented them we enjoyed it so much. Enjoy
Hi guys went to cyprus this year end of july and me and my partner have a week off at the end of sept/ beginning of oct and were wondering whats nissi bay or protaras like then both weather wise and also is it busy still are places still open.
The weather's still good though and it certainly won't be a ghost town.
November - March is pretty dead with the exceptions of Pafos and Limassol.
Have been the first two weeks in Protaras for last five years,Most of the places are open, daytime temps in the eighties,Sea temperature wonderful, shorts and t-shirt in the evening, see you there for a cold one..
Was there (for 1st time) last year - 15th to 22nd October.
Pubs busy, weather lovely..........great time had by all.
Going back this year 10th to 17th October.
You won't be disappointed.
First all large towns like Limassol, Larnaca. Paphos do not close down in the winter, they all have large ex-pat community living here and most restaurants and bars (not all) stay open all year, some close for refurbs and holidays but remember all the locals in these towns also use the bars etc...
As to the weather you could possibly get some rain and the odd thunder storm, but it still will be warm and mostly sunny as it is at this moment (too warm) but remembering the cooler nights and warm days, for sure a better climate than Spain in October, I always used to get washed well in October there..
I am sure you will find enough night life and plenty of eating places in any of the larger towns here..
Also, Protaras closes on 31 October. A lot of restaurants and shops were closed and we had a very limited choice of where to go to eat.
We will return for our anniversary some time soon, but we will go from 14 October to 28 October to ensure same does not happen again.
Paphos is more of an all year round resort
Last October we had a huge thunder storm at the beginning of October it did a lot of damage locally, but nothing to the storm that arrived later in that month, so bad in fact it washed a car away with a Cypriot Mun and Dad inside, they took weeks to find one of there there bodies, we had a charity event to help there family, some hotels (Corallia Beach) were very badly damaged and some residents had there breakfast tables washed onto the beach there, I have seen many storms in my life but nothing to come close to that one, for twenty hours the lightning and thunder continually roared around, we also had no electricity for twenty hours or more, so if you had no rain you missed it by a hairs breath, be warned it does rain in October and on occasions like the one above was very extreme and dangerous..see old posting and the press for clarification on last October storms..
And this was not a localised storm to this area, it was island wide...
We're going in October form the 6th for 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me what weather we can expect? I'm a little worried it wont be hot enough for a typical beach holiday.
You aint got nothing to worry about, best time to go,sea will be warm, weather perfect, odd bit of rain,no crowds. It better be because i will be there from the 30th sept..Enjoy
Always expected the unexpected weather wise, but generally October November and even some weeks in December can be good....BUT!!!
Jimbox, what temperature would you class as good? I've used wunderground.com to look at the weather history but in places its incomplete and in others i cant work it out.
My favorite month's on the island are May/June, you can still sleep well at nights and even sit in the garden, July/August forget it here unless these are the only months you can take a holiday here, it just is too hot and uncomfortable, Sept is always good but mid October can bring in heavy storms if you are unlucky, but it does not stay around long and they are not always for certain.. still using the pool today!!
I have spent some Christmas days on or near the beach, but this certainly is down to your luck!!
As long as its above 25 degrees C then i'm happy. we really did some research into the weather at this time before booking but having retraced my steps over the weather data, doubt set in that i had read it wrong and we'd be in a lovely place without the sun and normal beach weather.
You had better ask God, but it should be ok..
