Hi all. Were thinking about going to Sa Coma for October half term but someone has told me it is like a ghost town at the moment  Anyone just come back who can enlighten me please

We went to Sa Coma when we were staying in Cala Bona in February - we had booked the Sa Coma Playa for a week in May so went to have a look. Whilst the resort has a lovely beach it doesn't have any character at all. It is a sprawling resort catering very much to the British market. There also appeared to be a fair amount of building work going on.

We cancelled the Sa Coma Playa and went to Puerto Soller instead (beautiful resort).

Most of the resorts tend to close down at the end of October.....it's the end of the summer season in Majorca....and if the big hotels are closing, the bars etc. probably close too......and the reps will all be keen to get home after 6 or 7 months away :)

Thought it might be 'open' til at least the end of October cos of school half term

Dunno, parga.....it's still officially the last week of the summer season, isn't it? Maybe it depends on what the weather is like, or whether the bar owners etc. are fed up/out of stock/made enough money for the winter/etc.

I hoped somebody else might be able to enlighten you....

Hi Acorncup. I had heard from someone in Sa Coma that a couple of the bigger bars (Kings Head and Delanays) had cancelled their acts for the rest of October . I suppose if you do stay in Sa Coma there's always Cala Millor and Cala Bona within walking (or taxi) distance  . Been looking on Thomson and Portland website and holidays are quite expensive for that week so maybe will give it a miss anyway :x . Gx

Decided to stay at home October half term but couldn't resist a look for a late deal and could have got decent 4 star half board at a good price  . Look forward to hearing reports from anyone staying in Sa Coma over half term. Gx

Hi

we went to Sa Coma in 2nd week of Sept and really wouldn't recommend it.

It has got a GORGEOUS beach but there's absolutley nothing else to do or see. It's got a nice promenade but there's nothing on it!

The bars and restaurants are all on main road so you can enjoy watching the lorries going by while you eat. The place seemed to be quite quiet when we went so imagine it will be dead by Oct.

I would recomend going to Canary Islands (Lanzarote, Tenerife etc) or if you're still keen on Majorca then a bigger resort where there's stuff to do. If you go near Palma, the city is lovely!

Hi Claroj. I know what you mean. There's a lovely promenade but no bars on it! I find it really strange that you can take a walk on the seafront and it's dead, no bars or restaurants. It would be lovely if there was a few bars looking over the beach. Gx

Hi. Anyone been to Sa Coma (or Cala Millor, Cala Bona) over the October half term holiday. If so, what was it like. Heard Sa Coma was dead at the beginning of October  .

Hi Parga

My mum and aunt went to Cala Bona/Millor over half term. They got an absolutely gorgeous week, in the eighties every day (my mum who's 67 was swimming every day) and they didn't even need a cardigan at night!. Many of the bars were shut but it meant that the ones that were open were busier than usual (eg the London Inn). Although Sa Coma is livlier in Summer, I think Calas Bona and Millor are better at this this time of year, the bars overlooking this sea and harbour seem prettier and more romantic when it is quiet.

Wish I'd been with them

Hi Karen. Sounds like we missed a good week (especially weather wise).
