It is a luxury, exclusive hotel of the highest quality.
Not stayed there but have seen it a number of times.

Mdina, also known as the silent city is a beautiful old mediaeval town and was once the capital of Malta.
There is very little traffic within the city walls as only residents are allowed vehicles in, and all visitors, vehicles etc have to enter the city through the stunning main gate.
There are many small alleyways to explore and a couple of churches you can visit to see the amazing interiors.
From the ramparts of Mdina you can sit and admire the view over the island to Mosta and St Pauls from several restaurants or if you prefer you can dine in many small courtyard restaurants that are located throughout the city.
Just outside the main gate is Rabat which is famous for its catacombs, and it also has excellent bus connections to other parts of the island.
No visit to Malta for me is complete without spending time in Mdina, I love the peace, quiet and calmness of Mdina.

Good link Graham, Mdina really is a very special place, and just like you no visit to Malta is complete without visiting Mdina even though we have been loads of times, you are right about the view as you can see all the way across to St Paul's and Salina aswell as Maghtab and also down to Valletta and Marsa parish church dome, you can also see all the way down to Delimara point on a clear day and it's really cool to watch the planes landing at Luqa, last few times we have been in Malta we visited at night time and that can be really spectacular as it reverts to being the "silent city" once all the tourists and Karrozini have gone for the day.
