went to sun tropical all inclusive over christmas and new year and have to say we had a brilliant time, the food is plentifull and there is always at least 5 hot dishes to choose from as well as salads and puddings. The staff that worked there were brilliant and funny, the entertainment team worked so very hard and always had time to chat and have a laugh with you,Freya, Mark,Antony,Matt and Leanne were extremely nice to us adults as well as the kids , the kids loved them, but they really do work extremely hard. The pools were absalutly freezing i went swimming twice and was ill on the evenings, they were bone chilling.Everything considered i think the sun tropical was a brilliant holiday resort not far from anything, i think a holiday is what you make it and we had a wonderfull time and was very teary when we had to leave, but we love the island anyway.if youre thinkig of going there dont worry im sure you'll enjoy yourself.

That is good to read. Was the weather good whilst you were there? Also do you know if the Wavelength operates all year around?
If the weather is not so good it seems all will be well. Thanks again

Wavelength usually only operates to coincide with school holidays although the creche and kids club are year round.

Hi we always go away in Sept/Oct and not in school holidays and my daughter has always gone to the wavelength club. The evening session is good as it gives you a few hours to yourself.
The weather i found in Lanzarote at that time of year to be excellent. The town display usually says between 23 and 27 degrees 8) but beleive me it always feels much hotter, so those trade winds are fantastic for cooling you down. We always come back from Lanza with the darkest tan !
Tenerife on the other hand is still as warm but much more of hazy cloud and tropical heavy rain, we had 4 cloudless days out of 14 !! I have never had any rain in Lanza and the clouds have always been small fluffy ones. :sun
I cant wait to return in Sept :pele

Thinking of booking Holiday Village from 16 Feb for one week. Three adults and 3 kids (10, 9, & 4). What's weather like at this time of year??

Ooops I've just seen the daily weather forum.

But on another point I've read a lot about the cold pools here. Can they be used this time of year???

Hi, the large main pool is ice cold even when the weather is red hot. Have been in it a few times...it does take your breath away when you first jump in but you do get used to it. Its also saltwater....or it was when we were last there in 2004, but last year i read reports it had been drained and cleaned in summer 05.
The four smaller pools are supposed to be acclimatised to 24 degrees, there is a noticable difference to the main pool...although they still feel cool when you first jump in...but then again when you are baking in the heat of what feels like 30 + degrees you need to cool off. :sun
A few of my relatives have been to canaries during winter and all have come back with tans.
Have a fab time, Angie

Thanks for reply Angie. I think I'll bite the bullet and go for it, the kids don't seem to notice the cold as much as us old fogies

Just read the weather for today and it is fab there!! Is it only the one pool which is salt water?

Hi, i think so...but not 100% sure. You can really tell the large pool is saltwater as you can taste it. ( If accidentally swallowed)

Sunseeker1...when is the half term in England (I live in N Ireland) or maybe it differs from place to place?? For the first time our girls' school is taking a week's half term hence our holiday. The half term here runs from Mon 20th Feb.

I think the Spring Half-Term for most schools is 13th-17th February 2006.

I live in Sussex and the schools in this area break up on Monday 13th February for SPRING HALF-TERM. Maybe it's different for other areas of England.

Actually Pippy in Torbay the half term was moved. It was originally the same as yours, but a while ago all parents were notified of the change.
Obviously this was great news for us as it meant the brochure prices were cheaper for that week as half term changed- and we all know what prices are like in School hols!
I wonder then if the complex will be quiet with other children. Not sure as if half term changed any where else

Half term for schools in Somerset is the week beginning 13th Feb.

Half term in Wales is the week commencing 20th Feb 06, but I know it differs in some places.
