I am currently looking into buying a property in Icmeler and i would like some advice on renting.
Would it be easy to rent it out and how much should i ask per week, i won't be buying a property with a swimming pool as they are more expensive and above my budget.
I would just like an idea at how much i could gain in rent.
Thank you for any help and advice, much appreciated.
If I were you I would ask around the estate agents in Icemeler, some are on line so you could contact them on line. We bought a house in Turunc and we are just going to rent to friends etc we are going to charge £200-250 per week, I know you can get a lot more but if we get a few weeks at that we can pay for the up keep and a flight or two. There is a good site on turkeyvilla.com you will pick up a lot of info there.

There are many web sites to advertise your apartment, including HT. I have mine on a few others plus my own web site.
I advertise with
http://www.villarenters.com
http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk
http://www.villa-vacation.com
http://www.homelidays.com
I have used a few others too, but they have not brought in many enquiries, these sites will also give you an indication of what prices are being charged.
Hope this has helped, its very comeptative but be patient and work at it, but dont expect miracles in the first two years, it takes time to build a good client base.

Hi Jo,
Do you have any tips on building your own web page, and how easy was it?
It looks good by the way!

Ok Confession Time
I cheated and paid someone to do my web site! Though all the content is my own doing, I spent weeks putting together what I wanted, then let them put it all together. Luckily where I work there is a web design team and they did not charge me a fortune.
Though I do confess to asking loads of questions to Van as to how to promote the site, so thanks to Van for all your patience, and good advise though I do confess that meta data and meta tags and all the other web page jargon is pretty much martian to me!
The best I can manage is to keep it updated, though I do intend to learn how to do more, soon ........................honest!

how easy is it getting a mortgage for property abroad please help
At present foreigners cannot get a mortgage in turkey. there are some banks who are in discussion about this so maybe it might be possible in the future.
Most people who buy here either have the cash, or they take equity out of their existing property in the UK.
Even for Turkish people the repayments for borrowing money here are very high.

Hello everyone!
Although I am new to this forum I have used the information that you all kindly give to each other to solve all my Turkey Q & A (hotel reviews, etc) so firstly I thankyou for that!
However, I need some advice on buying a property just off the canal in Icmeler (about 150m to the sea front). I just want to get an idea of what people would consider paying or a suitable amount for a top floor (1st floor) 100sqm two bedroom, living room, bathroom, two small balconies apartment just set back (slightly) off the beautiful canal.
Please let me know your thoughts even if you do not have a figure in mind as I am very interested in what others think about such a venture (investment wise, etc).
Thankyou for your time and keep up the good work!

Hi Sarah
Welcome to HT!
From what i`m told property in Icmeler is more expensive than anywhere else ...... think you would be looking to pay around £50,000- 60,000 depending on decor and facilities! But not that sure!

Hi sarah,
I think you might be looking to pay a lot more than that for a property in Icmeler.
When we were there in July there was a property just over the road from the canal near the Ustun apartments, in was in a small complex ( about 6 I think ) with a shared pool and gardens and they were wanting £140 thousand
for that.
Property is a lot more expensive in Icmeler than in say Marmaris.
Hope this gives you some idea of what to expect.

God!
I didn`t think they would be that much! I went to see a two Bed Apartment with a shared pool and Garage in Turnuc on the market for £45,000. Wish i`d stapped it up!

Yeah - Turunc is way cheaper than icemeler
If the property is the same one as i am thinking of, just facing the Dreamboys international restaurant, then it was on the market for 60.000 pounds but to be honest with you it wasnt worth it cos it needed alot of improvements doing to it. I was speaking to the lady that lives below this apartment and she was telling me that the man that owns the apart for sale is an elderly turkish man who is in no rush for a sale as he only uses it for a holiday home. If i was you and you are really interested then i would give an offer slightly below the asking price but thats just my advice.
Hope everything works out.

Thanks everyone for your insights, I'm still looking into this area and your comments will really help. I'm just trying to build up a clear picture about this area and Icmeler in general and so all comments are really appreciated. Thanks Sarah x
I suppose its who you know and also what you know that will get you a good price.
I was offered well not offered but asked by a Turkish friend would I do the place up for him and he would buy it and then we would share the profit.
The apartment was there on the canal facing the dreamboys but was £32,000 in June/July.
It did need tarting up as it wasn't lived in but sounds the same one.

Hi there,
I am moving to Icmeler permanantly in june and was wondering if anybody else lived out there or if anyone knew of any jobs that will be available out there?
I have loads of experience in bar and waitressing work as well as over two years of ABTA travel agency experience. I've got lots of customer service and sales experience too. I have been offered a reps job by a major tor operator but unfortunately they cannot yet guarantee me icmeler or marmaris so I am trying to keep my options open. I worked in Marmaris for three months last year but don't want to go back to my old job. I will also be graduating from uni this may with a BA Hons in Hospitality Management so any work in this fields would be suitable.
I will also be looking for an apartment to rent if anyone has any contacts?
Any other information anybody can give me on living there will be gladly recieved.
Thanks

Hi Maggi 82,
The main areas for work are probably ones you dont like and pay is awful and intermittant. i have heard that people are being sought after to work in Insurance companies to service the growing ex-pat market. I think you are leaving it late coming out in June as most of the jobs have long gone. Which ever job you get I hope your Turkish is better that mine !!!!

Hi
as an ex manager for a major british tour operator in marmaris and icmeler i can reassure you that all the companies are always on the lookout for reps especially mid season when they start losing reps. also transfer reps jobs are usually available although these are highly sought after due to the high number of ex-pats living out there. another option is working in an estate agents, they are always on the lookout for english speaking staff due to the large numbers of foreigners purchasing property out there. this can be a really good earner but be careful about getting ripped off. also some of the large hotels employ guest relations managers but you usually need to speak a few languages to get one of these as you would'nt soley be dealing with british guests.

i have a friend in icmeler who was a transfer rep for thomas cook and she received £20 per transfer and this was the same cost if she left home at 6am and returned home at 6pm due to delays.

Have you considered the fact that you need a work permit to work in Turkey.
They have been clamping down recently and some of the estate agents in the resorts have been targetted. People caught working without a work permit have been deported.
Not a risk I would be willing to take.
