1 Are the pools really cold!
They are not heated so they generally are cold but once you're in, they are fine. One tip though, the pool with the waterfall gets filled up with a hose so can be colder than the others.
2 Is it hard to get served drinks.
When the Ents are on, the outside queues were mad during peak season, but this was pretty much sorted by August. The only problem is the first half hour in the irish bar when everyone goes downstairs. There is no point putting 5 staff on as after this half hour 2 staff can cope easily.
3 Are the pools packed out.
They are busy, but with the Beach Club over the road it spreads out.
I would also be interested to know:-
1 Are bottles of San Miguel/ Lager available to All inclusive, if not
How much extra?
Can't remember but should be as San Miguel is produced locally. The factory and distribution centre is next to the airport.
2 My parents are coming with us, Is there anywhere they can get away from the kids, maybe the Irish bar?
There are several different bar areas, but kids get everywhere! The brochure did state at first that the Irish Bar is adults only but this isn't true.
The Holiday Village is excellent value for money and has got over it's initial problems. No large hotel opens perfectly no matter what anyone says, and it is harder for the CDS HV as it is only open in the summer so goes straight into a busy period.
And the FC staff do appreciate a drink now and again, especially if you're on AI. Some staff get SOME meals included but they have to pay for all drinks. Please be nice to them!
Thanks for your response, we were a little worried at first after reading all the reviews about queing, but you seemed to have set the record straight.
We are really looking forward to going (Sept 16th), it cant' come quick enough.
Thanks again
Nicky
Ignore the moaners about the queues, we were there in July never had to wait more than 7/8 minutes at the most. The queue was always orderly and people tended to chat to one another.

hope for afew replys regardin this and thanks again
best wishes from dave and kez and kids
you get a visit to the italian once a week and to the mexican once a week, yes you go twice but once in each per week.
you can take lunch by the poolside cafe or in the beach club.
the kids clubs run the whole time the place is open.
it will be lovely and hot in june!
Though the kids clubs run all season some activities..eg the acting club..was only operating peak season beginning in July.
I read somewhere on the net that a trainstation is going to be built near the holiday village, wondering if anyone else has heard this, and when it is likely to open.
thanks

Im due to go to the holiday village in the Costa Del Sol in 6 weeks time and i cant wait but have just read in the first choice brochure that gentlemen are required to wear long trousers for dinner, how strict is the hotel on this? Can they wear 3/4 trousers, is this acceptable?
I am going to HV on June 4th with a nearly 2yr old and an 8yr old. When booking we decided not to go AI but self catering, but after reading reports I think I have made the wrong decision. Just wondering, can you go AI when you get there and if so do any of ye know the rates. Also just wondering is Port Aventura easily accesible from there.
Thanks
You could upgrade to AI last year, so would think you should be ok this year. Can't remember what the rates were exactly but they are in this thread somewhere. I think it was good value because several people we spoke to while there had done it. You can contact the hotel itself via the wesite http://www.holidayworld.es/reserva.php . I have also noticed from the website that you can now book direct with the hotel.
Port aventura is not on the costa del sol it is near Salou/Tarragona on the costa dorada approx 570 miles away so is not an option to visit. There is a smaller theme park which is very nice & good value in Benalmadena called Tivoli world which is well worth a visit. They have a website here

We are going on 23rd April and I am just wondering how long it would have been open for.
We visited the Holiday Village Viva in Majorca last year and head a great time so hopefully it will be repeated.
hi carol 57, yes the place does close down for winter i have just checked the first choice brochure and it opens for the season this weekend the 1st of april, we are due to go back in august we were there in august 2004 and had a great time (last year we went to pegasus palace the holiday village in turkey and also had a fab time there also).
Hello out there! Karl & Paula here, were going to HV on 4th of June. We have 4 Kids but are finally going on our own for the first time in....well the first time ever !! anybody else in the same boat, Is it just as enjoyable without Kids ??
We have 3 kids but the youngest is now 18 so we go away on our own most of the time. We went to the Holiday Village in Majorca last year on our own and had a great time and we are also going here on our own this year. I don't think I would want to be in any of the Holiday Villages in peak season without kids as there would probably be too many of them running around for us to be able to relax, but out of school holiday time it certainly wasn't a problem.
I am going again in July is anyone else going same time
we were also there in 2004 and are returning in august this year so will be really looking forward to your review and comments when you get back to see what it was like and how if any it has changed. roll on august lol xx
Howyeh C&S you still here, I'm so happy you're going back this year, I know how much you've looked forward to it. We've opted for Turkey this year though I personally wanted to go back to Crete, anyhow Happy Holidays
I will post when I get back and let you know what changes etc
Shazzyt
Nice to hear from you again. Sean is brushing up on his quiz questions ha ha. I cant wait to go although little aprehenisive going in peak season but I am sure will be fine as going with a 5 year old rather than a 3 year old last time
