Ive already had a good price for the Hilton but before I book it are there any other nice hotels or B & B - don't mind which - for a 2 night weekend stay in dec. Must be central so we can leave the car & walk everywhere, and we will have a 12 yr old with us.

Marie, if you have just started a new sub-thread, and you do mean HILTON and are not referring to the Hinton Grange as mentioned a few posts back....

we have stayed at a Hilton somewhere else and the bar prices were HORRENDOUS £11 for a pint of beer and a glass of wine (last weekend in a Northampton pub we got a wine and beer plus a plate of pie, mash and peas each for £12 !!)

also Hilton restaurant prices are steep (£19.50 for a main course, veg extra.....)

so bear that in mind before you take up their special offer.

Having said that, the staff and room and breakfast where we were, were all excellent, and the hotel had a swimming pool, and minibus pick-up from the station.

So if you just plan to use it as a B&B you should be OK.

Thanks for your info, to be honest we dont intend on eating or drinking at the Hilton, just use it as a B & B as you put it. Ive had a quote for £204.00 2 nights for the 3 of us which seems to be as reasonable as i'm going to get in central bath. I've tried all the usual sites - last minute, hotels discounts etc etc and they all come up quite a lot dearer, not just for the Hilton either.
The only thing putting me off at the moment is the parking situation - they want £15 per day at the Hilton to park under the hotel.
Do you know of any car parks within a short distance with cheaper parking (and hopefully a bit of security)than that or even a nice b & b with a good parking situation.

For the same price but far, far nicer try this one; The Ayrlington Hotel.

We stayed there two years ago and couldn't have wished for a better place.

It's about 1/2 mile walk and if you're a rugby fan then you can get a free view of Premiership rugger.

It doesn't accept children under 14 so i'm afraid its off my list (I have a 12yr old)

We have decided to visit Bath for a long weekend in September.

Can anyone recommend some nice restaurants/pubs for dining out in the evening. Not looking at going far, ie no driving, we are staying in a Guesthouse about 10 mins walk from the city centre.
