Hi Mrs Gaz, sure why dont we all write in? I suggest a sensible approach, not ranting and raving. Maybe if we ask intelligent questions in a proper format we could get a response. It would be great if Net Detective could tell us what questions he asked and what type of approach he used, because this obviously did not work as he did not get a reply so maybe we could learn from this? I dont remember seeing the details from when he originally sent a letter, apologies if i have missed it!

Is the KABC supposed to be family plus hotel????
All i thought had been changed was the kids club not being warner branded and the horse riding not being available.

If so I may cancel as I booked under what the brochure stated last summer there is a new one out now for april - oct 2006 and i couldnt see much difference then again dont think i know what im looking for.

I am really disappointed with firstchoice whereas in the past i have been very happy with them dont really know what to think after all that has been happening with peoples holidays being cancelled and others cancelling theres.

Can anybody help???

I wonder if some of you should contact Package Holiday Undercover, it was them that covered the carry on with the Pegasus Palace and Tropical last year when it first opened. I bet they'd be interested to hear what first choice are up to this year with yet another new property.

With regards t the family plus - I was in the travel agents yesterday as we have changed from a two week to just the one week ( free of charge) just in case there are any problems and there was no mention of the family plus facilites being withdrawn only that Warner brothers are no longer the brand used for the kids club???

If the family plus was withdrawn surely that would mean we wouldn't have been able to order our baby pack as this is a family plus facility???

And it is definately a major change so they would have to inform everyone?

I hope this isn't true as there will be no point for us at all!!!

Mind you, Corfu is on the list and that is still a patch of land!

I just read this from another forum. Now it is for Kefalonia not Kos but both are suffering the same problems. A worrying message I think. Could FC be delaying informing people until the 8 week mark to ensure they don't get a mass of cancellations?

We decided to think about the possibility of rebooking our holiday to the KABC for end of term and go last week in July.

My dad was still very dubious - saying "what if we get all the teething problems? and there may still be builders everywhere! etc etc"
We assured him that if it opens June 1st - the builders should be long gone by July.

However, he being the sort of person he is, decided to enquire and get hold of the hotel telephone number!! ( I will pm it to anyone who wants it)

He phoned and spoke to a 'site manager' type person, who spoke good english.

He asked to speak to hotel management and wa told that the manager was around - but she spoke no english (or very little)

So he asked the 'site manager man' when he could book to come to the hotel.

'JULY' came the reply. So my dad said, ok, but when does the hotel actually open?


'JULY' came the reply, 'well, maybe June 25, 26, but probably JULY !!!!!!!!!!!



Just thought I'd warn all the June travellers.

Ps, we tried to get our money back today, but FC said they want it in writing first!! they haven't even put it writing to us that our holiday is cancelled yet!!!! AND you can still book KABC for 23rd May on the internet!!!

my headache has just turned into a Migrane, Im gonna ring them again.

got throught reasonably quick, I asked to speak to someone who knows the correct info regardin KABC, I ended up with a nervous stuttering man (or maybe i made him that way lol) I said I was fed up hearing different storys and that I wanted the correct facts, he replied (after shuffling lots of papers) that the KABC is due to open 24th May (Yawn Yawn) due to power cuts and adverse weather conditions on the island (Yawn yawn yawn) I said that why then was my friend told it was due to staff training, he then went quiet and said he wasnt not aware of that.

I then mentioned Family plus being withdrawn, he said that No that was incorrect the only change is that the club is no longer warner brand but everything else still stands the same. I said look im getting really stressed over this holiday of which this is supposed to be a time of excitement (run up to holiday) and Im not prepared to take my family away to a building site, with that HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!

managed to get hold of first choice this morning about the Family plus, they said it is still a family plus and all the kids clubs will be on, and not just for a couple of hours during the day.

Not been on here for a while and can't believe what is going on!

I have spoke to my mate who is the manager of my local travel agent and been in travel industry for a long time. I asked if he could get any further information and said that First Choice can only tell him what their operations dept will advise and nothing more. They'll keep saying that their info is the most up to date from the resort manager. In other words they will stick to their story whether right or wrong.

However he did say that not many people go to greek islands in april or early may and that FC will have assessed the situation and decided it is better to cancel then for the small number they will have booked to make sure it is ready and open for the spring bank holiday onwards (24 May).

I know this is no help for those booked before 24 may but is for those going on or after this date.

Hello everyone..........

Im new and from the Kefalonia site. We are going to Kefalonia Aqua Beach Club in Aug (well hopefully) and we have had some major problems......
We did find a phone number for the actual resort and somebody did call them.......they were told "July" was when they were opening even though F/C are still saying 30th May.......
People are pulling out left right and centre and I still beleive F/C really dont know whats going on........
Regarding the "Family Plus", I was originally going to Corfu which was then pulled and when I changed to Kefalonia I asked if it had Family Plus too as the brochure didnt say and was told that all the Family Plus features were being transfered even though the book didnt say so!
We are taking 3 girls with us ranging from 8 to 12 yrs and the Family Plus was one of the main factors for our holiday choice so if it has been pulled im going to be livid!
Travel Agent here I come.............

hello sonia all the people that have booked up to 24th may have been cancelled by fc some of us going on 24th but cant get a gaurantee of fc that it will be ready on 24th a friend told me to day that the next edition fc brochure has actual pictures of the hotel not artist impressions out on 14th i think

I'm one of the ones no longer going to Kos Aqua Beach Club - was due to go on 20th May but not now However I'm going to Titanic resort & Hotel in Turkey instead (somehow the name makes me shudder) as it ticked all the same boxes as Kos Aqua Beach Club - not Familyplus but there is Hotel kids club, all inclusive, great pools, beach location and interconnecting rooms. Am disappointed not to be meting some of the Forum posters - was quite looking forward to finding out if how I imagined you all looking was right or not.
I suppose at least with me it was cancelled, end of story. Just wish that someone at First Choice could give a straight and honest answer as to the REAL reason that we were cancelled early...

Thank you for your quick reply, which after reading I do not think I will bother with this Hotel now, which is a shame as it looked really good.

Still, better to quit whilst I'm ahead and shall start to look around for another really good holiday with waterslides, as this is all my children (11 and 6) want.

Anyone with any ideas, please let me know, as when they are happy it makes for a really good holiday, nothing worst than "I'm bored".

Went to Houda Golf, Tunisa last year, though a little different, hotel was brill as were the waterslides, kids loved it (though it has a mixed review in holiday truths) sometimes, I think it is best just to go and try as not everyone likes the same.

I too was going to Kos Aqua Beach Club on 10th May, me and hubbie three kids and my eldest Amys friend, my sister hubbie and four boys and my cousin and girlfriend.

Anyway we were cancelled last Thursday and I was absolutley gutted, spent far too many hours in the travel agents but agreed on the Pegasos Palace in Turkey. At first I was worried never been to Turkey and honestly never wanted to but my sis talked me into it she loves Turkey thinks its one of the cleanest countries and friendliest shes ever been to so were giving it a whirl.

We were transferred over with a refund of £880 per couple because it worked out cheaper than KABC it looks lovley in the brochure, its got a mixed bag of reviews but if you look at the photo gallery of it and put it on slide show but look at the ones from the end of last season were the hotel is complete youll be in for a treat it looks beautiful.

Its only a suggestion but with the money we got back I managed to get all the hol clothes and some spendo out of it and still the same speck hol but a better rating 4* instead 3+ result.

Anyway good luck whatever you decide.

We are booked into the kos aqua from 28th June - what do you reckon our chances are.

Me,partner and 3 kids my youngests first time abroad.....

I was shocked when i came on here our final payment is due may 3rd and am hoping that it wont be a waste of time

Btw.....regarding te Corfu site........I was told that planning permisson was pulled as it was a "burial site" that they wanted to build on!!!!!!!

Whilst it is true that the Corfu ABC site is an ancient burial ground, this wasn't the reason for the planning difficulties as far as I am aware.

A number of local people are very concerned about the environmental & economic impact that this development will have on their community, upon investigation they discovered irregularities in the planning consent relating to the size of the development. When these irregularities where brought to the attention of local officials they withdrew planning consent.

As far as I know the developers still plan to build the resort, but it clearly will not be accepting bookings for 2006 as legal arguments continue.
