Hi Tatty,

the best person to ask would be Sanji, I'll ask her for you and see what she says :D

Actually Tatty, that was something else I just thought of. Obviously just frying the ants didn't stop them coming back (we were in a lodge) I used my Avon skin so soft and sprayed along the door and the decking in the balcony and they didn't cross over it.

So yet another great use for SSS, but I had added more citronella oil to it!

Hi scottishmum, what flavour SSS was it? i will definately try this!!

The green one, think its woodland fresh or something. Add in some more extra Citronella just in case though and it will also keep the mossies away!

Hiya Tatty, I'd just pm'd you to say that Sanji is away in Spain, I hadn't realised until I pm'd her but luckily she was on the net when I sent my message to her and she replied straight away. NEVER put NEAT peppermint oil on your skin, it's good for the same use as the Avon SSS, hope this has helped :D

At the end of the day, you are in foreign country with a hot climate, and creepy crawlies of some sort are to be expected.

I just tend to buy a local spray or something from a supermarket, they always work. Failing which have a word with the Hotel Reception and they will deal with the problem for you.

Talcum powder works..they hate the stuff

I'd forgot about that Lorraine! I remember my mum putting talc down on the balcony at home when I was wee, so that the ants wouldn't get in!

There you go tatty! The old ones are always the best :-D So you can save your can of hairspray for another day ;)

Hi all, does anyone know how to locate an ant nest. I get ants in the house every year and I can't locate where they are coming from. I have put traps and spray everywhere over the last 4 years, but they still keep coming back. I live in a council house and I know the wall in the kitchen wasn't plastered before the units were put in, so it is just brickwork, which with being a 1920's house will have holes etc, but they seem to appear from different areas so I am assuming they have a next in the cavity or behind the units.

Can anyone help me please, as it is getting embarrassing when my son keeps saying to people we have ants everywhere and I can't do anything else to stop them. Last night they had even got into the kettle and we hadn't noticed until we poured boiling water into a cup of tea. Ugggh :(

Hi there
A few years ago we were plagued with ants, it was horrible getting up and a mass of ants on the board in the kitchen. I put that stuff in a container which they take back to the nest and it killed the lot. It took a few applications but it did work in the end.

you can discorage ants by thoroughly washing down with a strong bleach solution (this wipes away the trail they leave to follow next time) and ensuring no sweet sticky residue is left for them to feed on..

ant traps and Nippon both work in the same way that is the ants find the sweet sticky bait and take it back to the nest to feed the young THIS IS A LONG TERM ATACK the lava fed on this product fail to mature, hence as the older ants die there are no replacements and the queen along with the nest die off..the average life of an ant is 10 days they mature in batches about every 2 days so it will take 2/3 weeks to kill a nest, the best time to use these products is when the first ants that have overwintered are seen the average garden may have several hundred nest's so its a slow job
