I would def stay in the middle of the strip, so that would be Bellagio, Paris, Aladdin, Caesar's..we were lucky enough to stay at the Bellagio and it seems like it was yesterday but it was a month ago and we were also v.lucky to get a fountain view upgrade for nothing!
There was a bit of construction work going on at the front entrance to the Aladdin but I don't know what that was about....maybe that is the start of it's conversion to Planet Hollywood.
We did the plane and helicopter ride to the GC and I was scared stiff of the small plane (we had 2 false starts to get in the air too which as you can appreciate comp did my head in!) but the turbulance wasn't bad at all, in fact we didn't have any going out and that was about midday (should have been 9.30am) we came back around 4pm and we did have a spate of turbulance going over the Hoover Dam but that was it, it was actually much more smooth than I thought it would be....the heli was fantastic so smooth and it didn't seem to twist and turn so much (not like in the movies anyway!) I would say heli without a doubt!
NASCAR - this was one of the reasons why we went to Vegas at the time we did so we could catch the weekend of races (Vegas was very unseasonably cold a month ago) there is a NASCAR cafe at the Sahara hotel with a shop there too and also a NASCAR store at the Fashion Mall. You can pick up cheaper NASCAR clothing at the Las Vegas Outlet Centre near the airport....about $15 dollars cab ride from a mid strip hotel.
Hope that helps!
We have just returned from the Aladdin, which does not have any major construction going on. They were due to open there new theatre on the 2nd April. Lots of info on the hotel if required, we phoned the Aladdin and booked direct using an offer code found on holiday truths.
Avenue Q was ok, but not our favourite. Everyone if different, and hope you enjoy the show.
If anyone has the chance to see Elton John then go, he was brilliant.
Kaz.
We were in the Stalls, I think we had 95 or 99 dollar tickets. It's a small theatre, all seats are good. Maybe you should look at the website and play some clips.
Basically it's about people who live on Avenue Q which is supposed to be in New York. It brings in many different types of issues, like racism, being gay...etc. and the puppets sing songs about these issues which are funny. One particularly funny part is Rod's friend singing a song 'If you were gay' and it's about how he doesn't mind him being gay although Rod hasn't admitted to it, but he's sort of wanting him to come out to him, and he's just in denial.
My sides were splitting at it all!
Thanks Lesley. I looked at the site after posting here and watched some of the clips so I have a bit of an idea now. Hope I understand it as I sometimes find it difficult picking up the American accent.
Not got a huge budget and don't mind walking a couple o blocks to the strip.
2 places are coming up within our price range.....Terribles and Best western Mardi Gras...........which of the 2 is the better....I have read the reviews and theres not much in it,Or should I splash out another £300 and go for Circus Circus.
Any advice please
Both are off strip by about the same distance, but Terribles is on the 202 bus route with buses every 15 minutes to get you to the strip. I think it is about a mile to the strip from there.
I wouldn't recommend Circus Circus. It really isn't worth an extra £300 to stay on strip. Just my opinion.
What about the Stratosphere......any thoughts on that as it's coming out a few pouns more so is within our budget
Are you booking this as a package and if so have a look at booking flights and somewhere like the Orleans hotel seperately.
The Stratosphere is a bit isolated on the strip. The surrounding area is not supposed to be very nice at night, although I thought it was fine. You will also have a bit of a walk to the next Casino, which is the Sahara. Don't know what the rooms are like in the Stratosphere, but I would still prefer Terrible's myself.
I was going to do DIY as it's quite a lot cheaper
Cheapest flight I found was through Opodo and that's with US Airways
Pebbles
Thanks for the advice about the bus from the Airport but I can't really do that as I'm not booking with them direct but through i4vegas
2 weeks for 3 of us in Oct is coming out at £463 which I thought was brilliant
I'm open to anyones suggestions as I'm a comlete USA virgin
I'm off to price up Johns suggestion now
Thanks both of you

You have to download it, but you can get some good prices from them, then phone the hotels direct and ask them to price match it. Most of them will do it.
If you sign up for emails on the hotels websites, you can sometimes get offers from them. If you book direct with the hotel most of them allow you to change your reservation up to 72 hours before. They also only charge you for the first night's room, with the balance due when you check out. I would recommend this instead of booking through a third party, since you are stuck with your booking if you find something better.
You should still be able to get the Terrible's bus whoever you have booked with. The first time I asked for it, we had booked through Expedia and there was no problem.
Have you tried Travelaxe? You have to download it, but you can get some good prices from them, then phone the hotels direct and ask them to price match it. Most of them will do it.

Don't do the booking through I$ as if you book direct with the hotel and see a cheaper price offered by them at a later date then you can cancel the first booking at no charge as long as it isn't with 48hours of arrival and re-book at the cheaper price.
I want to go in or around the October half term (22nd-29th) plus one week
So either 14th-28th or 22nd to 5th nov give or take a few days.
So it's a 14 day stay I'm looking at for myself, husband and 16 year old.
I would prefer the strip or near as poss to it.
I have looked at diect prices with several hotels but they are all coming out more than i4vegas.
I'll download that link now Pebbles thank you
You phone the hotel and tell them where you found the cheaper price, they will check it and give you the same price if they find it meets terms and conditions.
Some of the hotels used to give a discount on the best rate, but most of them just match it now.
I'm still open to any other suggestions for good places to stay although I have my doubts I'm going to find anything cheaper than what I've found already
Found this site really good for giving reviews of various properties......at least you know what your getting when you read these descriptions
http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php
Do you have to pay up front for reservations or do you pay on arrival
As to your other question, I'm not sure. Most of the promo codes are for use direct with the hotel. Do you have any particular ones in mind?
I've managed to get a quote for Terribles for accomodation and flight for £1549 for the 3 of us......I don't mind this hotel but obviously I would rather be a bit closer to the strip.
Appart from Stratosphere or Circus Circus all the others are coming out over my budget unless you know of a cheaper hotel closer to the centre
Have you tried the Imperial Palace? It is a great location, and often has deals for $49 weeknights and $69 weekends. Their reservation number is 1-800-634-6441. Try them and see what you get.
No not tried them because when I went on the website it kept telling me my choices were unavailable
