Hi,
when I said massive I meant massive...
We are heading off to the algarve next week with our entire family and we have a few "what if this" and "can I this" and "what do you do if's" and stuff like that. So I thought I would ask here!
We're going to vilar do golf with sunterra, flying at 6.30am and we have a fiat matiz hire car... for 7 of us <---- hehe!
So firstly questions about the flight.
1. my dad wants to know if he can take his laptop on the plane with him, and if he does, can he plug it in anywhere.
2. My nana wants to know if she can take her knitting <-- she's afraid they might confiscate her knitting needles...
3. I would like to know how long it takes to get there...
Questions about arrival...
4. We don't have a clue what to do when we get there, I assume we just cram as many people in the matiz as we can and call a taxi for the rest, but my sister said something about having to meet the sunterra rep before we go to our villa?
5. Mosquito's is another of my worries...Midges and bee's all go for me so will the mosquito's? do they do much harm if they bite or does it just itch a bit? and should I buy reppelent before I go or when I get there?
6. & finally, as we only have a little matiz car we aint going to go very far with it, but we would definatly like to go places (we don't like just going and sitting there on the beach all day every day, we like to explore!) so what sort of coach trips are there, are they expensive, what sorts of palces are there to go, like aquariums, zoo's, theme parks, castles\gardens etc...
oh, and my grandad want a boat trip of some sort, is there any?
sorry for the size but we are all a tad bit nervous now it's so close, my grandparent and sister have been abroad but none of the rest of us have a clue what to expect, what sort of tempariture will it be, is it rainy in may or should it be fine? also, last ever question, what are they like in general for english tourists? do we need to know much of the language?
Thanks for any help, we are really looking forward to it!!
2. Knitting needles will be confiscated im afraid.
3. Flight from UK wil be apprx 3hours.
Questions about arrival...
4. That will be independant with youtrselves, you should have received thisinformation from sunterra yourselves.
5. Put your repellant on, as insects will be around. I cannot say i have experienced any severe problems though, and contracting any illnesses or diseases are very unlikly.
6. Boat trips do exist off the cost, and you can get boatm trips along it viewing all the beaches and coves. Also, trips to places like Zoo marine and Aqua Parks are available, you should book through your tour operator or through a local travel agents.
Hope i have helped.
Would ye think about upgrading your Matiz to a bigger car mind you car hire in Portugal is very expensive.
Missed the questions on the end. Temperatures will be mid 20s (25,26) and the locals are very very nice, and you shouldn't need to speak any of their language if you weant to eat, shop or drink out.

I was going to upgrade the car however it was going to cost £400 for the week so we thought it would be cheaper to just coach trip everywhere, plus it saves me having to drive on the wrong side of the road

Perfect!
Again, thanks for your help chris, now all I have to do is tell my nana knitting is a no no
We always hire a car for a week when we go on holiday because with 4 kids in our family the excursions always work out very expensive. Also with six in my family we often need to get two taxis to get anywhere.
Dont think a matiz will fit 7 of you in, & maybe hire company will make you upgrade if they know how many passengers there are,( for insurance reasons), they are only meant for 4 really. Regards Laptop, some airlines will let you take them onboard but you cannot log onto internet, you can only play games. I would check with the airline your flying with though before you go as some do not accept them at all.Happy driving hope you all fit in the car (Dont theenk so). Cheers Jayjan
