Hi Turkishvisitor, will keep an eye out for Susan, and hope to say hello to her. Tell her to look out for two old cronies, one with a walking frame. We're young at heart though. They all recognise me in Bitez with the frame.

I'm thinking about booking for The Manuela this year.The website says £40 for return taxi transfer-does anyone know if that's an upto date price as it seems really good compared to the transfer companies i've looked at?

I stayed at Manuela a few years back. It is a nice hotel, perfect position right on the bech, the rooms were basic but clean, decent bar and restaurant. I did find a couple of problems though. First lt seemed to be catered towards the Irish, not sure if it still is but I found that the Irish got all the best rooms while the British were all in the noisy rooms above the bar. Secondly, we didn't actually spend a lot of time at the hotel, we would spend the day at different laces along the beach and go out and about a lot, also we only used a the bar a few times and becuase of this we found especially towrds the end of our holiday that the staff were not anywhere near a friendly, in fact a couple of time when we did want a drink we were ignored... and once we wanted a drink late and were told the bar was closed, when every other time we saw people coming in at all times being given drinks. I just got the impression hatbecause we didn't spend much money there they didn't want to know.

Anyway that was just my personal experience and maybe it has changed a bit in the years since we went there.

I haven't used Proper Car for transfers but I have rented from them. As a rental company they are excellent, very professional, probably the best of all the rental companies I've tried.
