I don't know if this will affect too many people, but thought that I'd let you know that if you wish/have to stay in Tunisia for longer that 3 months, there has been quite a big change in the visa charges. You'r all possibly all aware that there is no visa required for stays of up to 3 months, when it is then necessary to attend the police for a visa. Until March 2005 this cost 10td (about £5) irrespective of how long you intended to stay - a cost that we happily paid as usual - in February 2005.
February 2006 we trotted off to the police station clutching all the necessary paperwork and the 2x10 dinar stamps - shock! horror! - the officer apologetically informed us that the visa was now 10td a week, so he now would like the sum of 240 dinars. When we eventually recovered ---------- we trotted off to the cash point!!!
To be fair, we have in the past paid quite large sums of money for visas for 2 and 3 week holidays to various countries, so are not going to make an issue of it, but thought I should let you all know just in case
