We head off to Paphos 14th JUNE. First time, but going by all the reports we are going to love it. First time ever that I've been crossing the days off before a holiday. love the heat but just hope we will not expire in the heat after the miserable Scottish weather. My main worry is that my hubby is footy mad, so I hope the World cup is not going to be our evening entertainment!

Cardiff lad, it has not reached 80f yet, most days it is topping out at 72 74f it may feel warmer in the sun of course but no way is it boiling yet! in fact yesterday afternoon felt a little cool, it was at times overcast, but all the same bearable conditions, later this month it will start to warm up for real, then for the next six months we will start sweating night and day, at the moment it is just right...

Thanks Jim but the weather site I look at does agree with you for Paphos. It says Paphos eary to mid 70's over the next 5 days but the Famagusta district is early to mid 80's bar one day. Maybe the east is warmer eventhough it suprises me that it would be a 10 degree difference.
The weather site I use is below.

Cardiff lad I am sure there is a mix up on this, I don't need weather sites as you can imagaine my info comes from members of my web site and what I can see from my home here, it never usually that much of a difference east or west, for sure Nicosia being a city does have a more humid and hot climate due to its inland location, and Pafos is normally (thankfully) far less humid and a shade cooler in high summer, but not this time of the year.
So where those 80+ came from I have no idea for sure its news to us living here..

regards

Yes it does get too hot here for comfort, each year goes by I wonder why we don't I fly off somewhere a little less fiery than Cyprus in July & August, but you do learn to adapt, many of us who live here reverse hibernate, close down all the shutters and run the fans flat out, A/C is basically useless as you still have to go outside, certainly never use A/C while sleeping at nights you will end up the a bad cough or worse....I find a late swim in the pool and go to bed wet helps in the really hot months, but of course this only a short cure for the sweats, good drop of the local brandy sometimes works to aid sleeping, but to be honest a trip back to cool old blighty for many is the answer..

You rarely get temps over 40c I have seen this only once about fifteen years ago and it nearly did for me and my family, it is not pleasant and not sun bathing weather, stay in the shade sun bathe in the bars, or late in the day or my favourite time early mornings, the average daily highs on Cyprus are 30 34c in high summer, but of course in the sun it will be far hotter, always best to avoid we all know it is an unpleasant experience getting sun burnt or worse, and is not worth it, two days back home and its fading fast!!

p.s I am in my pc room it is of course two hours ahead of the UK and it is going dark, the reading on my temp gauge in this room is 26c or for us older members 78f...I have every door open in our bungalow.. and it is May!
