Hi
We have just got back from two weeks in Rhodes, staying in a villa near Kolimbia. First few days coldish (we had to use the heat pump in the A/C) but the final week was hot - ideal weather. I don't know how anyone could tolerate the heat in July/August The private pool in our villa was cold but bearable once you went through the agony of immersion The beach at Tsambika is very good - highly recommended if you have a car.
We tried a number of Tavernas but by far the best for welcome, food and price was Maria - on the left a little way along the road to Tzambika Beach. On our first visit we were given ice cream and Ouzo free. They specialise in Greek food but there is a good range of tourist dishes (the Pork Souvlaki is excellent ). There was a succession of people - visitors and Greeks - coming in and being given a vocal welcome by Maria and her husband. All repeat customers and that means something.
We went there about six times. Each time we paid under 17 Euros (no charge for ice cream and Ouzo ) for meals that cost 24 to 33 Euros elsewhere. I recommend Maria very highly. We may even go back to Rhodes next year just to sample the atmosphere and food again.
Skatesy
I have to agree with you about Maria's. It is simply wonderful. The grilled fish 'Tsipouras' was great. We had is more than once. We stayed at a Villa in Kalathos from the 10th to the 24th. We went to Tsambika Beach a few times and really enjoyed the beach and Maria's.
