Hi Browners,
I stayed in tsilivi last year from15/09/05 to 29/09/05 and we had a lot of rain places will still be open but slowing down.I wouldnt go back, the beach is awful.airport is awful. Its only my humble opinion but if you want warm weather i would try cyprus my favorite place ever.
I'm sure you must work from Cyprus tourist office too!
I'm sure Tsivili is going to be a great place for a holiday, and despite the airport not being Gatwick, the beach not 100% fine white sand, that rain has been known to fall out of season and that cyprus is so much better I am still looking forward to going to zante!
but have you ever sat on Pafos harbour when it was snowing???
Tsilivi is only a small town and is not particularly pretty but there are good restaurants and a few nice shops and it is not a noisy, rowdy resort.
The island itself is very beautiful and interesting and well worth putting up with the worst airport I have every encountered! I wouldn't think there would be very much going on late in October but if you choose good accommodation and are happy just to chill out then I think you will be OK with Tsilivi.
We are going on our own first time in 25 years, and staying at the Iberostar Plagos Beach, Its about 2km from Tsilivi.
As for the Airport, anyone been to Paphos Airport on a Wednesday, well I`ve just experienced it, and it comes a damn close second to Zante.
weather was nice and hot.
zante is such a lovely island, we hired a car or the duration and this allowed us to visit most of the island, though the driving at times was a bit hectic though managable.
we found that going out after breakfast the roads were at there quietest and this allowed us to visit what we wished to see and then return in the early afternoon to sit by the pool or go on to do other things.
though we did not have any problems at zante airport you can easily see how problems can develope quite quickly, the new arrivals building was open and we were off our plane and through, collected baggage then in a tai within 15-20 minutes.
he taxi from the airport to tsivili cost 15 euros and was well worth it, on our return, as we had booked independently we did not have to qeue outside before being allowed in the erminal building so by the time the tour operators allowed there passengers in we were checked in and sitting in the departure area.
we will certainly recommend zante to others and to be honest we thought each resort was as nice as the other even laganas.
recommend to hire a car, this is the best was to see around the island.
if anyone is thinking of going or are about to go, enjoy.. we certainly did.
Just arrived back ourselves and have to agree, we had a wonderful week. The weather was fab, the beach is clean and safe and the resort itself was not too crowded or brash. All in all would thoroughly recommend Zante or Zakynthos to any one with young children in fact we are seriously considering returning same time next year.
I'm flying off to Tsivili 4 weeks today - never been to zante before. Reading how much of a good time you had there was good.
you will love zante, it was our first trip there and would highly reccommend.
if you can, hire a car. the island is not very big and will be a bonus to your holiday.
i would also recommend jumping in a taxi instead of the tour company transfer.
it only costs 15 euro and takes about ten or so minutes.
the airport is a bit crowded especially on departure but as we had booked ourselves we went straight into the airport as apposed to having to wait in the massive queues outside and being ushered in group by group.
you may want to consider making your own way back to the airport to avoid having to do this.
enjoy your holiday, i'm sure you will.

Thats a good idea - if I get in a taxi and get there before the crowds then I might miss the crowds!
Can't wait to go!
I'm thinking about hiring a car ... but worry that everyone on the roads there are either maniacs or drunk! Are the roads safe for someone who's not used to driving on the right hand of the road?!
Can't say I noticed the Christina Apts, but like I say, the resort isn't big so wherever they are will be close to all the action. One thing I will warn you about, and its just one, is the hawkers you will find in the tavernas and bars, usually the same people selling the same things like balloons, roses, etc. Normally a polite no is sufficient however one nite we were completely plagued by the same people every 15 mins it seemed. I would like the hotels and restaurants to be able to bar these people but I don't know whether they can or not? Don't let it spoil your holiday, we didn't, and Nemo is right about the taxis and the hire cars, two things we wish we had done whilst there but now we know better.
i think they suffer each other , i.e. bar/restaurant owners and the sellers because they all need to make a living but when they overstep the mark they get it in the ear .

check on here , people should let you know the weather for the full season ,

been to zante 4 times ( once to Tsilivi ) at end of october ( half term).. about 1/3 of hotels/ eateries open, most shops open .. often will be a sale.
i just have some queries on the resort tsilivi
1) are there any irish bars in Tsilivi?
2) regarding the shopping, i understand there wouldnt be as many shops, if any, but do they do like electrical goods, watches etc or would you need to check in Zante town?
3) what is the nightlife like, are there many pubs/disco pubs/clubs?
4) is it cheaper than other resorts, was in lanzarote last year and that was ok
5) any activities anyone recommends doing?
thanks for your replies
thanks
As far as I know, an Irish bar opened up in Tsilivi this year.1) are there any irish bars in Tsilivi?
I can't remember seeing any electrical shops in Tsivili, but you could certainly get watches in some of the shops, but if you went into Zante town 4 miles away, you'll definately find what you need there. Its a lovely town and worth a visit. When you are there, try and get to Bochali. It's an area above the town with fantastic views.regarding the shopping, i understand there wouldnt be as many shops, if any, but do they do like electrical goods, watches etc or would you need to check in Zante town?
There's a good selection of bars but only one club. Bars are lively, but not crazy. We enjoyed Utopia, Level Bar, Kaliva Bar & Traffic Bar. You'll be spoilt for choice. For a livlier night, you could always get a taxi to Laganaswhat is the nightlife like, are there many pubs/disco pubs/clubs?
We couldn't believe how cheap it was to eat out in Tsilivi. Having gone to Portugal for the last few years, we found Tsilivi much more reasonable. A good meal for 2 with starters, main course and wine was costing around 25-30 euro. We didn't have one bad meal. Drinks were not that cheap - around 3 euro for a large Mythos 3.50 euro for a vodka & diet coke. But all in all, we spent less than we expected, and believe me, we really enjoyed ourselves food & drink wiseis it cheaper than other resorts, was in lanzarote last year and that was ok
There's a 1/2 day speedboat trip around the island run by a guy called Spiros and the company is Levante afaik. You'll see the boat (and hear it) coming into Tsilivi at lunchtime, and there's a guy who walks up & down the beach, taking bookings. I've heard that is one of the best trips to take. Also, there is another tour called Zakfari that was recommended to us.
Hope you have a great holiday. I'm sure you'll love Zakynthos as much as we did. Can't wait to go back next year
ah thats great, thanks
hi we have just got back from tsilivi and had a great time, the weather was very hot and very warm in the evenings, there is an irish bar there and that is where the mini golf is, not much for electrical goods though may have to go into town for that, some of the trips are great we went to shipwreck and turtle island. We stayed at the planos bay apt/hotel and chris angela and alex were great and very very friendly, the apartments were a bit dated but we didnt spend much time in them. We were spending about 35-45 euros a night on our evening meal for 4 adults (the kids were having adults meals as the childrens meals were quite small portions) we all had a couple of drinks with our dinner so yes it is very cheap. A bottle of amstel was 2.50 and coke was 1.50 euros. Anyone going to tsilivi will have a great time loads to do there the bars we used to go in was Utopia, 3 brothers and the Ark.
