Last stayed in Fuerteventura 9 years ago when our eldest was 2 years old, went to a Thompson Superfamilyapartment place........Caleta Gardens? Whilst there I have memories of the "German place" being a large complex that seemed to end with a large circular conservatory type looking thing out towards the beach jetty..............always heard lodsa german karaoke and oompa oompa stuff as I recall . Anyway, looking at a map this appears to be where the Club Barcelo now is, so was it there 9 years ago and was it largely german back then, also don't remeber the Hotel Barcelo being there then, so when was it built?
Just interested,
Cheers,
Andy
hi, am going to this hotel in august with first choice on half board basis, we have been told to upgrade to all inclusive when we get there through the hotel , has anyone done this and has anyone got any idea of the cost involved , would appreciate any feedback at all
For cost see my post above.
Traveling to cale de fuste first week in oct. I know you cant ever be sure with the weather, but what is it usually like early oct? One more question. We are going to the Barcelo hotel but wont arrive till after ten at night,so we where thinking of e-mailing them to ask if they will sort us out for a hot meal as we will have been travelling from Ireland from early that morning. Has anyone e-mailed them before with a similar request? Thankyou. Stephen
I went to this hotel last feb, did not email them regarding food as we had an early morning flight. HOwever i did email them on various occassions before we went asking them some questions and they responded very quickly and where very helpful. I dont think you will have any problems.
Just to let you know even though we only went for 1 week ( and the weather was not great for the first 4 days, although it did get better ), we still had a nice time. The food is very good, staff are great, the kids clubs and animation team are very very good !!!.
We had already booked AI before we went but they do ask when you arrive if you want to upgrade.
We had a suite when we went and was fine....
As we went in Feb we had no issues with sunbeds... There are quite alot !!!! so you should be fine at the time of year your going.....
Thankyou for you're reply .Stephen
Also did any one have a room with a seaview and if so are they worth paying extra for, can you upgrade your room at check in or do you have to do it before you go?
Not sure, but I think "copa de sangria" is included in AI. If you want a litre carafe you have to pay!
thanks lewiston
hi, im looking to revisit the barcelo fuerteventura next year and on checking first choice/eclipse etc...they are now booking rooms with sea view or without seaview. in my opinion all rooms have a seaview and i feel the tour op is just out to make more money. if you look on barcelo website you are just offered a standard room....could this be as all rooms are the same.
I suppose some will have 'better' sea views than others. As you have stayed here before you will know where the gym area is, and I would have thought the ones set back in the corner will have a very limited sea view ?
Are they plug in ones or attached to the wall?
They are attached to the wall, I found them absolutely fine, no problem to use at all. They are in a good place right by a big mirror
thanks marie
1)On various reviews people recommend requesting different blocks for the accommodation. How much do they vary and what are the benefits of one over another. We like quiet rooms so which block and floor is preferable?
2) Are there tea and coffee facilities in the rooms?
3) Every review comments on the big double beds, do they do rooms with twin beds?
thank you
Rosie
2) No - Take your own kettle
3) As I understand it the rooms alternate double, twin, double, twin etc the doubles also having a double fold down bed (doubles as a two seater setee) and the twins a single fold down bed (double as as an armchair)
Hope this helps
Does anyone have any advice about this please? I haven't booked yet, but its either a family room at the Barcelo or a suite at the Elba Sara, which has a separate bedroom and living area with double sofabed, which would be perfect if it was at the Barcelo!
Many thanks in advance.
Nice food and little touches like slush puppy type machines that you just help yourself to at the pool bar and lobby bar and crisps from the pool bar are included (if you are AI) should you be hungry between meals!!
Nice pools too the main one is where most of the games take place and has goals at each end for kids to throw balls around and try and score goals!! there is another pool next to it which is quieter if you want to swim away from the kids playing games which has a jacuzzi in the centre.
If theres anything else more specific you want to know just ask (or PM me!)
There's a king size bed for a the adults and a double sofa bed for the kids. There is a seperate bathroom and bathroom area.
We take our 10 year old and it is more than adequate for us. With 8 & 12 year olds they may prefer a bit more privacy of their own room, especially the 12 year old.
If you look at the Barcelo website you can have an interactive tour of the hotel, including the rooms.
We've also stayed at the Elba Sara and again the rooms are good, but not as good as the Barcelo in my opinion. The suites may be more to your liking.
The Barcelo is also in a more central location and nearer to the Harbour etc. If you can afford it the two room option would be agood idea.
