Local Chemists ranged from £240.00 down to £200.00 with no bartering at all. Though one chemist told us that it helped keep the cost down if they were ordered like ours on one prescription rather than four separate ones.
Our local Boots have offered to match the online price and will have the tablets available for collection next day. This was after there original quote of £237.
Explaining why the could not match the on line price, she mentioned a mark up of 50% on the net cost of the tablets, plus a discount for spending over £250. I just mentioned I would be happy with a mark up of 30% on a big transaction like this, and they offered me the same deal as online.
If this is the case then local chemists should jump at the chance to cash in on a tidy profit on one transaction. I must say my local chemist seems to sell anything that will make a few pence for them, including sweets etc for kids who are waiting with mum in the shop. Most of the goods seem to be gathering dust on the shelves, the perfume going at Christmas maybe. The chance to make £50 in one go should be pretty tempting to most. I suggest you give them a pleasant squeeze, despite what you are quoted first time round.
