I would not recommend a whole head of braids. For a child, I agree with the advice above, a single braid with thread and beads are perfect. I got half a head of braids done in Salou about 4 years ago and im still paying the price as my hair is still tatty and bitty on the front of my head. I didn't even leave the braids in for that long either! So I really wouldn't advise it, especially for children.
Don't think I would bother again though. It REALLY REALLY hurts! not sure I would recommend it for very young children. Also i found the women who did it very unfriendly and quite intimidating.
It looked nice and kept me cooler as my hair wasn't constantly in my face, but don't forget to apply suncream to the scalp!!
My son got 5 braids he is autistic and has a fascination with hair, the first 2 cost 10 euros each, (yes I was well and truly fleeced) the next 2 cost 5 each and the best one was done in port aventura and cost 5 euros as well so far they are looking great and he looks so cool like an eco warrier.
does anyone know how long the braids stay looking nice for? I really want mine done when we're away but might leave it close to the end of the hol so it looks nice for when i come home
we went to Benidorm in Jan and Paul got braids at end of Feb they were still looking great but he got proper extensions which were rubbish compared to braids but hairdresser cut the braids off i think they last a couple of months anyway. if you dont soak them or blowdry your hair
i had my hair braided when i was in salou recently and had no problems taking them out. i only had half my hair done which took 20-30 mins and the woman wasnt exactly very gentle! it does hurt when theyre doing it and you can feel it pulling for a while after but because my hair is really thick it kept me much cooler.paid 15 euros for it to be done and it looked really nice
This year she wanted the half head braiding and I think it did hurt getting it done but she loved it in and it was very easy to take out. Cost 15€. I would advise asking about as some people tried to charge us 25€ but we said no and walked off. We also got a free bag of bands to change them if we wanted.
hey everyone! im flying to Salou in april (got a new job as an entertainer! WOOO!) and i have a mighty problem. my hair. being a black girl... im worried about finding a good place to get my hair corn rowed... weaved etc... does anyone know of any afro carribean hairdressers in salou? or will i have to wear a wig for 6 months?!
Congrats on the new job. Hope you enjoy it. Salou is full of ladies who do braids and cornrows. If I was you the first time you go to get your hair done go to one of the ladies who actually has a shop/stall rather than the ones who work near the promenade and down the side roads who work from a folding table. At least if you have any problem you will be able to find them again. Once you have been there a while you will find out who is good at this and who is not.
Hi i also get my daughters hair braided every yr we go away, she is mixed race so you know what that hair can be like.I have never really had a problem with taking all the braids out, they usually stay in for about 4 wks then i un do them all,i do notice that when i do un tie them they are also knotty so i put lots off conditioner on ist then take one braid out at a time, but itdoes take me about 1 hr to remove the all.
I took my 7 year old daughter to a place on Carrer de Sarragossa (near Lorenzo Pizzerria) heading from the beach road first hair braid place you come to on your right. They ALL try it on for 25euros. 15euros is the standard price dont pay any more than that. The girl here took a lot of time with my daughter and was brilliant. Very happy and a lot better quality than shes had in Majorca, Tenerife and Ibiza for the price. She was over the moon.
I always get my hair braided on holiday. They did a really good job of it in Jamaica & Aruba, and it stayed in for about 2 months, each time. They stayed neat in mine hair because they were done really tight, but that doesn't bother me at all. Another reason for staying neat was probably because of my hair type [Mixed race afro hair], and I used hair grease everyday to help moisturise it.
hey did you finally find a solution? On 4th February 2008 at 02:06pm, ayeshashasha said:

fosterplus.org taught me a lot of tricks. Before combing, you should apply a smoothing agent in the spray format to the hair. It will simplify the untangling procedure. After that, you need to wash your hair. You can also purchase professional products for this problem in beauty salons.
The hair turned into an unraveling tangle is a nightmare, of course. My parents most often cut them off. It left a kind of psychological trauma for me. However, the way out of the situation is quite simple. Specialists from -
