Shopping for Gin!

I bought a bottle of Gilbys gin in Margao for 110 rupees,a few days later I asked a taxi driver to stop at a shop in Varca. In this shop I was asked to pay 360 rupees! Is this sort of thing common when you arrive at a shop in a taxi.

i saw bottles of gin between 90-110 . didnt see any as high as what you paid
Its called SKIN tax, they try it on all the time. 
Gin reminds me. The last night of our last trip sitting in a beach shack drinking a gimlet watching our last Goan sunset ahhhh... memories and roll on our next trip.
p.s. Margao is generally cheaper to buy most things than the tourist area's

Never tell a taxi driver it is your first time in goa , and you will be asked this all the time. Read all the tips gven on HT and act like an old hand.Or they will try to take advantage

I agree, i love it when i get asked is this my first time, and i reply, no its my 5th
they dont take advantage of you, and you can talk about what you've done in the past when visiting.
