from what i have read elsewhere i don't think we will have the problem
one has had planning denide the other has serious problems with subsidence all the information is in public domain on the web and i hope people will check first,,after being Caught out a few years ago i now check everything before i book and hope others have the sense to do the same

wizard - wasnt that corfu and kefalonia though? crete and rhodes are new in the brochure for 2007 with crete having the same artist impression photo as kos!!!

I think some of you are being mis informed, because I've just got off the phone from F/C even though I booked through Thomsons. They allowed me to first of all cancel the original booking, giving me back 120% of my holiday price. Then I rebooked with them to got the internet price and they gave me not only the £150 per person, but because the holiday was still dearer, another 5%.

I was traveling on the 19 July and got 25% plus £750. All in all I am well chuffed because I have got a £5500 holiday for £3500.

I have also ended up with £500 in my pocket. Don't raise your voices, be calm, but firm and they will come good

Themcs - I would give them a call and see if you can have your money back as ive just had a look at the price's for kabc for next year as you commented it had gone up, and the whole season for 2007 on eclipse and first choice is not available too, I wonder if first choice are pulling out completely or just undecided, my ex husband has booked to go in july with our girls.

Like I said as long as you re-book the holiday with them, you are still entitled to the £150 per person.

as yet i have found nothing regarding the other two on the net except the first choice site... had i a family i certainly would not take a risk on something that hasn't been built.either way i will not go anywhere unless it has been open for at least a year to iron out the problems

Hi Paula...had simular problem with changing to alternative holiday....we were offered 150 pp for alternative + 10% comp....we paid 3038( discounted internet price) for kabc (dept 9th aug)...so therefore were looking for a holiday worth 3800 (so the agent told us) anyways ...found a holiday to TURKEY ( titanic beach and resort hotel) for 3813..went into FC to book and she looked up this holiday and it was comming up as 4226?????

Which meant US paying an extra 413 OMFG! i thought this is outrageous..i tried reasoning with FC agent and was told that we had to book from retail and not from internet price well at that point i became VERY deflated.....so i asked Y cant we have our comp taken off from this price and not have to pay a penny over....she said the comp had nothing to do with her, that it would be sent after....(whenever that would be).

wizard - no im not prepared to go through all this again, I wont ever dream of booking a hotel from an artist impression. Im a little worried now about next season and will be speaking with my ex hubbie tonight for him to contact fc also Lisa London has rebooked for may next year already. I was just surfing their webbie after themcs commented on the price change already for next year and have noticed that its not available at the mo for the whole season on eclipse and fc. We are off to gran canaria in oct and ive booked this with direct holidays. Also after your comment about crete and rhodes ive noticed that these are now not available to be booked online anymore, when did they pull these from sale do you know? as the fc 1st addition brochure they are both pictured.

Wizard that's why we booked for next may thinking that it would have been up and running for 12 months. We would never book anywhere and be the first there no matter how good a deal we got. I haven't tried phoning yet because I know from last years experience they will only be dealing with this years bookings first. I honestly think we are just going to have to put up with it. We can't afford to lose the £400 deposit and I have spent all afternoon looking at alternatives and they are all coming back at nearly £600 more There is no way we can afford this.

themcs - ive just re-read the info notice that they put on their site, and it states that fc are going to take legal action against the developer of the kabc. Makes you wonder if FC will actually ever open it under their name now.

That is from firstchoice website, so what do they think they are playing at trying to charge us for new/replacement holidays for something out of our control and using our compensation to cover the cost this quite clearly states that they will find an alternative and give compensation.

Just thought I would let you know - all of us who are trying to get compensation who transferred before the statement - FC e-mailed me to tell me that I must speak to the dedicated phone number and not customer services, as they have noting to do with compensation. Sent them an e-mail back telling them that the dedicated number had told us to e-mail customer services.

Looks like FC are now trying to give us the runaround - but I won't give up. Any news tomorrow, I'll post it!!

I'm back. Phoned Eclipse the only way I could get to speak to someone was on the booking line. He agreed with everything I said and when I told him there was no availability at all for next year he agreed that it didn't look good. He went off to speak to his team leader to see where we stood and came back and apologised that all he could do was give me the 0161 number.

Phoned this number and spoke to Susan (I know i'm not meant to name them but she was very nice and helpful). She said they haven't made a decision for next year but everything is built it is just the facilities they were not satisfied with. She said they are dealing with this years holidays at the moment (they are up to August). I should expect to hear from them one way or another within the next 2 weeks.

She did say that if we were to cancel now we would lose the deposit.

So we will wait the 2 weeks and then I will be back on to them.

I can't go through another 12 months of this. The run up to this years holiday was bad enough but at least the place was up and running even if it did have problems.

Please don't forget to write to the operator stating that you are taking the alternative under duress and reserve the right to pursue a clain on your return.

First Choice seem to be forgeting their own statement of providing a alternative holiday, it seems to me that they are expecting a lot of us to pay the extra costs from the compensation. I see some of you are stating that you are being told there are no free child places available. How can they be offering a alternative holiday if they are expecting to charge for children, and extra prices.

Some of us booked 14 months ago from the first addition books. Since then prices have increased, and child prices have run out. Thats why we book early, they have had our deposit since then earned interest, now they want to charge todays prices as if we were booking now, and not as stated offering us all alternative holidays and compensation.

First Choice are holding our cash, and most of us can't afford to payout for another holiday, so they are able to push us into a corner because its accept or no holiday.

I think the best we can all do is get the best deal we can, then pursue this as a group after the holiday. what do the rest of you think?

you may not be able to cancel and get your deposit back but you can change your holiday over to something else and pay a small admin fee which is no solution but is better than losing your deposit and playing a waiting game

Ok what can I say???? been there done that...and ready for a battle again??? I don't know if i am actually.....I have booked for KABC for next May.....maybe it was a big mistake....I don't know. I went to a lovely hotel this year instead of KABC......in Cyprus..sungarden beach hotel.

I will let you know if i hear anything from FC.....
