Hello.
I recently returned from 2 weeks staying at the Estrela do Vau.
Here's some views walking from the Praia da Rocha side of Praia do Vau to Alvor:
And yes I was more than hungry enough to eat these sardines when we got to Alvor!
Cheers!
Fab pictures, Smiles 11...........roll on Sept till we're back!!!!!!!!!!!
Great photos, but you stopped walking too soon !! Another two or three miles and you'd have reached Lagos and that would have made the walk worthwhile !!
Sagres, I think Alvor was just about far enough to walk in the heat. It doesn't take that long if you stroll along the dual carriageway, but walking along the cliff tops takes a few hours. Especially if you keep stopping to take pictures!
Besides, I may be saving Lagos for a future trip
Cheers.
Im off to Praia da Rocha at the end of August
with Mrs Mac & my lad who will be 9 by then,
he's mad about Pirates of the Carribean, so seeing
all the rocky coves along the beach on your photos
will only make him more excited about our hols.
Im sure we'll be looking for pirate skeletons &
hidden treasure every time we visit the beaches,
if we find any treasure I'll let you know
If you happen to go to Lagos, you can take a trip to the grottos in a small boat with the local fishermen; they'll take you actually inside the grottos.I'm sure your lad would be delighted.Make sure,if you go, that you've got your camera with you !
Wonderful Pictures
These pictures are so beautiful and remind of my only previous visit to the Algarve some 20 years ago! We stayed in Alvor and I still think it was the nicest resort I've been to. This year we're going to Praia de Luz and staying at the Monte Sao Pedro holiday village. I'm really hoping it'll be as stunning and memorable as Alvor was back then.
Don't think you will be disappointed..............enjoy your hols!!!!!!
I really want to go to that beach, but last year we only made it to carvoeiro. We're staying in Olhos d'Agua how would we get there by driving? Or where could we get a good road map?
Lovely photo's.
The Rough Guide map of the Algarve is a good one as it's waterproof and made of rip-proof plastic. We've also used the ForWays maps (orange covers), which you can buy in the shop near Arrivals at Faro.
We've also got a good book of walks along the Algarve coastline. Not sure whether this one is in it as we've left it out in our apartment, but next time we go we will definitely do your walk, Smiles11. Thanks for the photos - they are great!!
Thank you for the lovely pictures of the walk from vau to Alvor we stop in vau twice a year and we love that walk ,roll on september
Thank you everyone for the kind comments - glad you liked the pictures.
Really good photos Smiles. I've just returned from the Algarve (stayed near Carvoeiro) and will be uploading some of the photos I took onto the forum's photo gallery. May I suggest that you do the same with these, then even more people will get to see them.
