Hi, we are going to Roquetas de Mar in October, and just the way things have worked out with the dates and "Pay Day" we may need to withdraw cash while we're over there. Normally we take all the cash we will need but things are different this year, so can anyone tell me if it's possible to make withdrawals from our own bank while out there...do they have cash machines, or can we go into a bank there and take money out? We have never needed to do this before so haven't got a clue!!
Thanks for any help
There are ATM(cash) machines in Roquetas and you use them just the same as in the UK with your debit card. Most machines have directions in English as well as Spanish. You may be charged a fee for each withdrawal depending on your bank so it is best not to withdraw lots of small amounts.
Thanks for the info
We've just returned from Roquetas and used a Nationwide debit card with no problems. We were not charged a transacation charge by either banks or commission fee by Nationwide
We used Bank de Andelucia on Av Mediterrano by the Toy Shops and it asks you for the language to use when you insert the card. It takes about a minute to think about it and get an exchange rate from England then gives you the money and a receipt.
Takes about 2 days to appear on our account.
Strangely the one time when we tried to use the card in a shop it didn't work. But my Mastercard credit card worked ok.
Hope this help

If you have a Nationwide account not only do they not charge you but you get a good exchange rate as well. We take a £100 or so in € and just our cards.
the exchange rate at banks in the resort was 1.44 (1.39 in the UK) but when nationwide applied it was converted at 1.48.
The hotel was offering 1.35 or 1.37 with commission
BTW LLoydsTSB apply a £1 charge for every foreign currency transaction on a current account
All round Nationwide wins for me
