Val,
Take on board your comments about Self Catering. Everyone is going to shout me down here (I can take it coz I'll get an answer that way!!). I like 5 star or good 4 star.!! I like to be looked after...... I reckon the 5/4 star hotels in Tenerife are pretty good compared with loads of other countries ( I was in 5star in Egypt in May which was no comparison). Don't mind eating out - like you there is no way on earth I would cook on holiday as I don't even cook at home.
Are there 5* self catering or good 4* comparable to the hotels?? Haven't been self catering for years and as there are only the 2 of us to villas etc are just too expensive.
Off to Cyprus on Tuesday where I can smoke myself to death if I want. Honestly, I'm not a heavy smoker but the thought of the airport - in Glasgow can't smoke. 4.5 hr flight and no lighter at other end due to hand baggage restrictions is making me want to go to Loch Lomond!!!
I knew that , my finger got carried away with the 0000000000's
Vonnie - We usually stay in our time share. It is called The Regency Country Club in Chayofa. If you want luxury check it out. Although it is timeshare it can also be booked on an hotel basis. After seeing what they charge for 1 night I am glad I sold at my old resort and bought this one 6 years ago, the prices for this resort have more than doubled in that time. To buy two weeks there now cost more than what I paid for my house 23 years ago. It is pure luxury and more.
Rgds Jackie
I dont think cheap deals are unique to Tenerife at the moment! Iv just booked Cyprus August 2007, A class apts, family of 4 for £1739 which I think is fantastic for Cyprus. Weve been to Spain / Spanish Islands once or twice a year for the last 6 years plus probably going again at Easter - just decided its time for a change!
We liked Tenerife well enough and while I agree some areas are a bit tatty, it depends where you are - I thought the Puerto Colon / Fanabe area was very nice.
Main thing that would put off going back is the constant hassle you get from restaurant PRs.
Also dont appreciate bars that entice you in with 1 / 1.50 euro a pint offers but charge anything up to 3 euro for a (small) soft drink. Enivitably, on a first visit it took us a while to suss out the ones that DONT rip you off.
