Having been co-opted to Christmas child-minding duties in Dubai, this is the closest that I am likely to get - I may have to indulge in a little 'avant, pendant et après-ski' though.

Well,i just love skiing;)so i won't miss going this winter, hut i'll be in Pamporovo.for me this is the best resort for skiing, and Bansko too.I prefer Pamporovo compared to Borovetz because the tracks are longer;)

bansko rules, just go and see, no contest.

Peter, you have mostly more change to break your leg when you're standing still then actually ski down..
Why? because your body is not in full control because your watching here and there, talking,... Everything is enough to put you out of balance and then: bang, you fall unlucky.
I hope to go to Bansko in 2008

Hi sutonblu,

I think that you'll find that Tanjette is off to Borovets for her 4th visit this winter.

hello sutonblu,
sorry for my late answer but it is a bit busy here
Anyway, going to Borovets, hotel Samokov again..

The hotel is a typical eastern build 'bunker' with lots of things to do: hanging at the central bar, swimming, good massages, pooling etc.
Normally the food is better then in other hotels (more to choose from and the rice is delicious!) but if you want a steak or pizza then eat out at the many resto's in the shoppingstreet and the bar/restostreets.
Anyway you wont be bored in Borovets coz you have always 2 days in 24 hrs: first is the skiday, second the apresski/resto/bars/nightclub day   Make sure you take extra vitamins before going
To have a first impression about Borovets have a look at http://www.bulgariaski.com/borovets/index.shtml and for the hotel http://www.samokov.com/

latest Borovets news:
they are building a Flora 2 just next to hotel Flora and apartments.
Don't know (yet) if this is also for apartments :?

Well- the ski season has now started. Anybody here going? I have created threads on Pamporovo, Bansko and Borovets at the top of the page. It would be great to hear some reports. In the meantime if there are any hotels you would like to see in our hotel reviews just ask here :D

Does anyone know if Bulgaria is 'snow safe' into April. Everything that I've read says December to April, but if we were to go in 2007 it would be the first week in April. It will be our first family skiing holiday so I would hate to go and for the snow to be on it's way out.

Thanks

The ski season ends mid April so it may be a bit risky. Where were you thinking about going to?

Hi

Pomporovo probably, as I've found a couple of good deals.

I am considering taking the family to Bulgaria to ski. We have been skiing before but not to Bulgaria. Which resort is best for families?

Hi Shuggy

If you come to any conclusions I would be really interested. We are just back having had our first ski lesson at the snowdome at Tamworth. It was a try it and see as we weren't sure what our 7 year old would make of it, but we got a big thimbs up! I am also thinking of Bulgaria for our first ski holiday.

OK- really excited, it might be a year away yet, but we have just booked to go to Borovets. We've booked the Hotel Lion- mostly good reviews so hopefully it will be OK. The choice was a bit limited since we needed a family room. We've booked with Crystal Ski and I think we've got a great deal. Just need a few more visits to the Snowdome now!!

Hi Discolazur-F

Looked at your pictures -thanks. Does look nice despite the light snow covering!! I'm hoping that February will be an OK time to go. We have to go in school holidays- Christmas is a bit early to be safe and Easter too late, but then nature is unpredictable!!

Hope you had a good time anyway.
