I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me some ideas on where to go for Aug 2007.
Two adults in thirties and a 14 year old.
Looking for scenery, walks, beach, quaint, restaurants, and somewhere to stay with a private pool and away from busy areas and loads of people. (will have car)
Dont want much do I!
http://www.premiercottages.co.uk for some ideas depending on your budget anything like this in high season isnt cheap but then again nor is a caravan in high season. a word of warning if any of these look suitable is they are generally booked a year in advance for aug and all are booked independantly with the owners.
lyn
We usually rent a cottage with a pool that is usually shared with a few other cottages so hardly used. have a look at lyn
Try Seahouses, Seafield park. It sounds just what you are looking for.

My cousin has a caravan there and we spent a week in August. It was so peaceful, not at all like Butlins. Most of them are private lets but they do hire a few out.
but some suggestions for the UK
Canal Narrow boat or Norfolk Broads
The Peak District especially for your long walks but no good for the beach
how about a City break somewhere like Bristol
Are you looking for a hotel, or do you want to rent a cottage or similar?
Tenby, South Wales would be right up your street. The pembrokeshire national park has some lovely coastal walks and a lovely beach. There is also a good variety of accommodation from cottages to 4 star hotels. Although the town can get quite busy at peak times, the surrounding area is picturesque and as you have a car would be ideal for you. If you'd like any more info just let me know.

Or the Scilly Isles. They will tick more boxes and be at their busiest but the lack of accommodation keeps the levels down. Need to book now unless you are loaded and can afford the hotels over there. Does scenery, walks, beach, and quaint in droves.

How about the new forest? It has scenery and walks and you can drive to a beach on the coast as isnt too far away.
We stayed in a place in Ireland called Castletownshend(its about an hours drive from Cork) The village is real old world style but it has two very good Restaurants, 3 Pubs, Village tennis Courts, Playground etc.
Theres loads for Kids to do as you can take Sailing leasons at the village Pier. Whale watching trips are also avalable
There are numerious small beaches all within a 10 minute walk and lovely walks through the Woods and the coast line.
We rented a house for two weeks and although a little expensive, it was the highest quality rented acomodation we have ever rented.
House was called Ashgrove see http://www.westcorkhouse.com for more details.
Castletownshend is an ideal base to explore the rest of West Cork from.
It is only an hours drive to Cork Airport, and the rest of west cork is at most a further 50 minutes from here
I agree with Shirley H . Tenby would be ideal for you. The beaches are fantastic and there is a huge array of accommodation. If you don't mind spending a bit try the Atlantic Hotel right on the sea front, complete with pool.Nearby is the delightful town of Saundersfoot with its lovely harbour, and Oakwood theme park would be great for youngsters. A drive of 45 minutes would let you visit the fantastic Norman Castle in the ancient town of Kidwelly. There is so much to see and do using Tenby as a base.
