hi shirley h,
are you sure they was maggots,as mine have got legs, but they do resemble maggots.

quite sure they have bibby, that would put anybody off eating it , i must say though , that over the years i have brought back plenty and never found anything wrong , it may be worth researching a bit , maybe see if there is some kind of entimoligist on line who could shed some light on them (if they are moths no pun intended

hi bluepeterno 1,

I'm intrigued to know what they are. Keep us informed. If it was me I'd have got rid of them long ago. You're very brave.

you could keep them in some sort of see through container ,just in case they turn out to be some kind of flying insect ,then you can just throw the lot out

,,put some of the turkish delight in with them

Bibbs. Don't know how you're able to sleep at night. It gives me the creeps just thinking about them.

hi bibbs been talking to a friend of mine who knows quite a bit about insects, he reckons the eggs must have been layed by some sort of fly ,but he cannot understand how they managed in an airtight box ,unless there was a small tear or suchlike in the packaging.

hi shirley h,
no problems sleeping this end,so long as the little buggers dont get out. :yikes

hi bluepeterno 1,
if they were fly larvae, they wouldn't have legs would they ?,or maybe turkish ones do,who knows.

Hi bibbs,

How are the babies????? I am sure they will turn into moths. On another note here is an interesting article about Turkish delight or Lokum.

http://www.mymerhaba.com/en/main/content.asp_Q_id_E_793

From this article it says;

A good Lokum keeps its freshness at least six months. Never put Lokum into the refrigerator, but keep it in a cool place.

On a serious point, whatever hatches might not be too good for the British ecology, so don't be tempted to just let them fly/crawl out of the window.
Enough problems with various insects being imported via plants brought from mainland Europe
