Just one question does anyone know what the diving / dive centre is like here, im advanced so like a decent dive?
When I stayed their in March 2004, there wasn't a dive centre at the PDRO itself, it was located at the other end of Esmarelda beach (5 mins walk down the beach). It's called Sea Lovers Dive centre. The diving around the area isn't great, but there's still plenty to see.
I filmed my dives while I was over their. I didn't manage to get much diving in because of strong winds and rough sea's, but you'll get an idea of what its like, click here. Dives are from a boat. The sites are 2 - 3 mins away from the beach around a drop off. The wall is 30m+. The top of the wall is about 12-15m. The dive centre is fine, seemed well run. Hire equipment was ok, better than I was expecting.
I was in Varadero earlier this year and managed to get 4 dives in on the Caribbean side of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs, and 2 on the wrecks around Varadero (I've not editied that video as yet, been too lazy!). In general, over-fishing has had an impact on the marine life like many parts of the Caribbean, along with some severe storms over the last few years. It's slowly recovering though.
