hello everyone... we touched down at Donny last night after 2 gloriopus weeks in Taurito staying at the Taurito Princess...what can i say..and which section do i put it in there are so many things to write about..
Right....the resort itself...Taurito is a lovely quiet little place about 40 mins transfer from the airport. The beach is much improved from the last time we were there in March. All the big rocks have been shunted to one side and there are little lepracauns that come out overnight and rake the beach smooth ready for the next day. The tides can be lethal though, the waves were pretty fearsome sometimes and although spectacular to watch as they are breaking, swimmers need to beware. There were at least 3 occasions when swimmers needed fishing out and one guy ended up coming out completely naked as the tide ripped his keks off and he lost his goggles too. There are plenty of water sport activities you can do from the beach. There is a place where you can hire jet bikes for 50 euro's for half an hour but that is negotiable..we did this but our bike broke down and he had to come and rescue us and we swapped bikes in the middle of the bay! We also had a go on the banana boat, that is 10 e's per person and we had great fun on that. You can also try paraboarding and for the more sedate people, there are pedalo's you can have for 10 e's an hour. For the adventurous, there is a diving school called canary island diving that is next to the Taurito princess Hotel...he does all sorts of diving packages from bubble making sessions in a swimming pool for the complete novice to the james bond action man level for the more experienced and the prices are pretty reasonable.
The resort is generally quiet, there are no looky looky men about, most of the hotels are AI, but there is a nice bar called Oliver and Hardy's. There are the usual assortment of shops that sell nick nacks, flip flops, and all other things you expect to see. There are 2 supermarkets, a pharmacy and 2 doctors surgeries. There is a great lido in the centre of the resort, free entry if you are at lago Taurito but 7 euro's to enter if you are not. We didn't bother but the kids played crazy golf there almost every day for 4 euro's. We had great fun at that.. it took me 27 shots on one hole!!! There is also a little funfair type ride set for the kids and a childrens playground. There are even parrots to look at..but i think these maybe look a little neglected, more through boredom of not having anything in their cages to play with rather than through abuse. The resort has its 3 stray cats that are as friendly as anything and everyone feeds and a stray dog too that was near starvation when she got her own fan club and i fed her every night, as did most other holiday makers.. i hope she survives....
The buses run every 20 minutes to PR and Peurto Mogan ( i think the most beautiful place in the whole of GC) and it is dead cheap, 2.10 for 2 adults..taxi rank is next to the bus stop.
Now, the one thing that put me off... there is a new hotel being built called the Baobab Taurito..that in itself is not a problem, the building work does not distrub anyone, but i fear they have exposed the sewarage works as the stench of sewerage stank the place out sometimes and was worse at certain places in the resort.... sort it out people..it spoils a great resort...
all the other stuff i will post in the relevant sections and i will do hotel reviews when i have more time ( mad rush of washing and ironing to do..need another holiday to cope with the stress of it all )
finally, the temperature was 29, 30, 31 degrees every day for 2 whole weeks...
catch you later...
Thanks for that review
Nice review, seems as though you had a great time, how long would it take in a taxi to P.Rico and how much ?
Welcome home val and rob I was looking at Playa Taurito myself for a possible future holiday, maybe give Gran Can another chance after feeling a little let down in PDI this Easter. I'll certainly consider it after reading your lovely review.
I cant believe the last two weeks have flown, I hope they didnt go too fast for you though.
How were the flights? any delays etc
When you have a spare minute from washing and ironing could you enlighten me on the luggage situation with donny and thomsonfly please.
Hope it isnt too cold for you back in the sunny uk
Looking forward to hearing more about your hol.

only 9 days to go.......
Nice review, seems as though you had a great time, how long would it take in a taxi to P.Rico and how much ?
right, taxi to PR will take you about 10 to 15 mins at a guess, maybe 20. Although it is only 9km from Taurito, the roads go high up ino the cliffs with lots of sharp bends so the drivers have to go slow...it is a long way to the bottom! Price wise, well it goes up 3 cents every so many yard and the flat fee starts from the rank at about 1 euro 90..so i am guessing somewhere in the region of between 10 and 15 euro's..but i did not get a taxi to PR.. we actually sailed there from Peurto Mogan which took 20 mins and was 10 euro's return.. a very pleasant way to get about. This price includes a free glass of sangria and a sweet for the kids...sailings are at 15 past the hour from Mogan and half past the hour returning....there are other places you can sail to at reasonable prices
(Arguinagan, Anfi etc).
...well the flights were spot on for a change. Donny is such an easy airport to go to and from for us as we live just 12 miles away. There were no delays either way this time. Usually, we get delayed coming back off our holidays...last tme it was coz the french air traffic control were on strike...going out, flight time is about 4 hrs 3 mins but coming back with a good tail wind it is less than 4 hours..How were the flights? any delays etc
....well it is absolutey freezing back here.. we got off the plane and the tempature dropped by over 20 degrees and i think i am still in shock!!!..the luggage..security restrictons are still in place with regards to liquids despite what is publically said. My sister in law had to taste the babies milk and drink in front of the security guards..no other liquids were allowed through but you can buy them after you have gone through. They are quite strict on excess baggage charges but if you notify thomsonfly in advance, the charge is alot cheaper. We gort Rob's diving equipment through as an extra at £30 return and it was a massive heavy bag...could you enlighten me on the luggage situation with donny and thomsonfly please.
Hope it isnt too cold for you back in the sunny uk
thomsonfly were pleasant to fly wit and t my utter shock, on te way home a hostess named hayley took one look at me and asked me a few questions and it turned out that she was from the same village as me and remembered me being a kids entertainer when she was little, had been entertained by me in the past and was now due to become a student at the diving school rob helps out at
Cyberspace, you should definiely go to Taurito Princess. As repeat guests, not only did Rob and me ge a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit left in our room but so did the rest of the family who we were taking for the first time. In addition, it was my dads birthday while he was there and they sent him champagne. There are so many extra touches they do that make it a special place..i will tell more in my review...
PDI is a bit of a doss hole anyway ( IMHO of course) and i am sure if you went to Taurito or Mogan u would not be disappointed...
for now eveyone....
Thanks for the info.
welcome back glad you had a great time
Is it a good place for teenagers? (ages 14/15 & 17/18)Cyberspace, you should definiely go to Taurito Princess
