have stayed at the kahramana last year and off to the coraya on 25th july. snokelling is fab. swam with approx 30 wild dolphins, denis the dugong at abu dabbab, turtles, guitar sharks. husband dived with white tip reef sharks & a couple of hammerheads but they were miles out so dont fret! loved marsa alam - nothing there, nothing outside hotels which are very spreadout and def not in walking distance of each other, perfect for the absolute get a way. get a visa when land - very easy as tiny airport and only one flight at a time.

Hi All
Going to the Calimera Habib in Marsa Alam 2nd April for two weeks :tup anyone been there recently, I know it's in the middle of nowhere but that's fine we are going just to relax but if anyone can recommend any trips that are worthwhile then please let us know, and if some of the temples are accessible for day trips, any information no matter how small will be appreciated.
Kind regards and Happy hols

Hi,
I absolutely loved the Kahramana & the Coraya at marsa Alam. You are right when you say Marsa Alam is in the middle of "nowhere" but thats what we wanted. Sorry cant help much with the trips as never ventured far - only on bus to day dive boats!! Dive centre Pioneer Divers at Calimera Habbiba / Kahramana is reasonable for snorkelling trips if you dont dive. I know alot of reports and advice to be found on T*** A***** Marsa Alam forum but dont know if I can mention this here??!!
Happy holiday!

Getting a visa at marsa alam upon arrival at the airport is easy - just hand over your cash to the guy at the counter in the arrival hall and he stamps your passport :welcome
Costs 15 US$ each but they will accept £sterling and Euros too.

I have used a cash machine at the Kahramana hotel while we stayed at the Calimera Habiba, it gave egyptian notes which can be changed at reception if need be(only seemed to want euros, dollars or sterling at airport) I have read else where that some other hotels have them. I would highly recommend the Calimera for a relaxing time, we enjoyed our week lasy year so much that we are returning in May for a fortnight.

Hi Carol,

We were at the Iberotel Lamaya last September. No long trousers required for the chaps for evening meal. Smart shorts were fine.

Hope you have a great time. It's a lovely hotel.

:cheers
