Where do I start? I love Thai food.
Anyone tried papaya salad on the beach- freshly prepared in front of you? I'll bet many people get taken unawares by the chillies!
Another salad I discovered over there is pomelo. We had then for the first time in Bangkok- the name of restaurant escapes me for the moment. I hadn't even heard of pomelos before then Which are your favourites?
Just good old plain Pad Thai , I just love it, always makes me think of the time we had just arrived in Bangkok at lunch time and took a tuk tuk to Khaosan Road where I ordered a plate of Pad Thai in a lovely cafe bar and sat and watched the world go by - it was bliss.
Our Tesco has been selling pomelos for over twenty years, so you might be able to recreate the dish yourself. Mind you its only just started selling Singha.
We always enjoy the pancakes made on the street stalls. Enjoy a nice Massamun curry, rice in a pineapple, chicken in pandanus leaves. Chicken and cashew nuts with chunks of deep fried chiil. Tom Yam of course.
I too love all Thai food, my favourites have to be Pad Thai, Massaman curry, Red & Green curries, fish cakes, anthing with prawns in it.
I really like the fishcakes, but pretty much anything Thai I enjoy. Funnily enough I bought a Pomelo at my local supermarket when I was out shopping this morning.
Well not everything Thai...I drew the line when I was offered some beetles to eat.
OK Anything Thai within reason

I know and I have
Anybody tried the Thai wines like Monsoon Valley? We found some Sabai spritzers the other week, had not even tried them in Thailand.
Pas Kra Prow is my favourite, or chicken with chilli and basil leaves as it is usually called on the menus these days
Tom Ka Gai- chicken and lemongrass soup. I'm going to make that tonight. We eat that with a small bowl of rice. After that I'm normally too full up for a main course so I may make Thai fish cakes as well. I love starters

Their prices are VERY reasonable and the service excellent.
No, I do not have any connection with them apart from being a very satisfied customer.
I have used these guys twice for both dry goods, pastes etc and also for fresh Thai herbs and veggies.... Their prices are VERY reasonable and the service excellent.

Just bought a stock of coconut milk from Aldi's - 400ml tins 39p each..full fat I'm afraid. Presume this is just a one off special. Had lots of other ingredients (dried asian mushrooms and various oils) and rice cookers as well.
Cheers.
I can't say the Massamun curries I've had in Thailand were particularly hot. Its made with coconut milk, beef or chicken, potato, massaman curry paste(a mix of all kinds of things including chillis, galangal, garlic, lemongrass and more). Its a dish with more of a Inadian/Malaysian influence than Thai, but like most Thai curries its more soup like than the Indian style curry. Very tasty.
Thanks Sunbear, it does sound nice. My husband does like them too even if they're not too hot, he just prefers them hot. I personally don't like them too hot though. I think we will definately have one or two on holiday.
