Hi All - I have been studying this forum for some time now and have finally managed to persuade my other half that we need to go to Goa Xmas/New year 2007!. After 5 years of tenerife at this time of year we are in desperate need of a change and I think you will agree its about time !!!!
I have been looking around for prices and at different dates, packages, locations, speaking to people who have been etc, and thought the best thing to do would be to ask for your views as all the information I have got from this Forum so far has been really useful. Just a couple of things we wanted to know?
1. As first timers to Goa (I have been to india before not Goa, partners first time) I have read on your do's and donts that it is better to book flights and accomodation seperate, do you agree that this is best? If so which companies are best for flights?
2. Comments from friends who have been to Goa and on this Forum seem to be swaying us to staying in Candolim, as this seems to have a bit of everything, but I do like swimming in the sea and have read it is not safe in this area. How far is it to a beach where you can swim in the sea from Candolim?
3. Any recomendations for accomodation? I have contacted the Lucia Guesthouse again courtesy of the comments on this Forum, but do any of you have any other suggestions/websties etc
4. What is the weather likely to be like Xmas & New Year?
Apologies for so many questions and thanks in advance to those who can advise me
Hi Lou sorry cant help you with accomadation as we stay down South. But, try MYTravel for your flights, they fly direct into dabolim.
Thanks for your help Ellibee, I will have a look at thier website
Flights..we stayed for 6 weeks so had to fly scheduled via Mumbai, but there are several charter flights that go direct. It might be worth comparing costs.......Regards...Barney
Accommodation and flights get booked up quickly for Christmas and New Year. I'm going 8 Dec and in between the 2 weeks that I was waiting for the ok from work the flight went up £130!! Try Eclipse, Jewel in the Crown, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Thomson websites.
Any more hints and tips are much appreciated
